Cajun/Zydeco Music and Dance Exhibit
Celebrate Louisiana women musicians of Cajun and Zydeco music!
Nicholls will hosts its annual Cajun/Zydeco Music and Dance Exhibit, themed “Louisiana Women Musicians of Cajun and Zydeco Music,” on Wednesday, April 9. All of the events are free and open to the public.
The opening reception, featuring live music by Bonsoir, Catin, will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the first floor lobby of Ellender Memorial Library.
The evening will continue with Ben Sandmel, a musician and writer, hosting a live interview with the musical stars of this year’s festival at 7 p.m. in the Cotillion Ballroom of Bollinger Student Union.
The highlight of the evening, the “Louisiana Women Musicians of Cajun and Zydeco Music” concert, will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by Zydeco sweetheart Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys. Bonsoir, Catin will hit the stage at 9:30 p.m. Come experience unabashed Cajun music that is full of energy and raw emotion.
The Cajun/Zydeo Music and Dance Exhibit is sponsored by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the Houma Regional Arts Council and the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program. The reception is co-sponsored by the Nicholls Student Programming Association.
The Cajun/Zydeo Music and Dance Exhibit is part of Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities.
