International Day

Experience cultural diversity!

Nicholls will host diverse music and poetry presentations on Wednesday, April 16, during its International Day.

Teachers and students from the Lafourche Parish School System will perform live African drumming and dances from 9:40 to 10:35 a.m. on the Talbot Hall portico. Nicholls teacher education students and faculty will participate.

The day will continue with poetry readings at 9:40 a.m. in 227 Beauregard Hall and at 6 p.m. in Ellender Room of Ellender Memorial Library. Dr. Phanuel Egejuru, professor emeritus at Loyola University, will share her poetic creations during the morning session.

Egejuru is the author of six books, including biographies, fiction and literary criticism. She is a world-renowned expert on Chinua Achebe and will also participate in the international poetry reading at 6 p.m., which will be hosted by Dr. Jean-Mark Sens, French-born poet and Nicholls assistant librarian, and will feature other international poetry readers.

International Day is part of Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities.
