Art Day

Immerse yourself into the world of art!

The Nicholls Division of Art will host a day filled with creative lectures and workshops beginning at 8:35 a.m. Friday, April 18. The events are free and open to the public.

The schedule of events is as follows:

  • 8:35 to 10:35 a.m. — Ceramics lecture and workshop with Josh DeWeese, a ceramic artist and resident director of the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena, Mont. — 210 Talbot Hall.
  • 9:40 to 10:35 a.m. — Photography lecture and book signing with Thomas Neff, photographer and author of “Holding Out and Hanging On: Surviving Hurricane Katrina” — 204 Talbot Hall.
  • 10:45 to 11:40 a.m. — “Controversy in the Art World: the Cleaning of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel” by Dr. Elizabeth Guin, heritage resources program coordinator for Northwestern State University — 210 Talbot Hall.
  • 11:50 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. — Art lecture by Martin Flanagan, chief executive of XDesigns — 208 Talbot Hall.
  • 11:50 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. — Metal engraving and printmaking workshop by James Ehlers, printmaker and engraver — 209 Talbot Hall.
  • 12:55 to 1:50 p.m. — Printmaking and painting lecture by Amzee Emmons, assistant professor of printmaking at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. — 210 Talbot Hall.
  • 2 to 3 p.m. — Visual arts lecture by Dan Cameron, visual arts director at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans — 201 Talbot Hall.
  • 3 to 5 p.m. — Faculty Invitational Art Exhibition reception — Ameen Art Gallery (200 Talbot Hall).

Art Day is part of Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities.
