Learn more about the history and inspiring power of music!

The Nicholls Concert Choir concert, with the theme “On Music and Singing,” will feature choral songs along with text about music from poets, the songs’ composers, Roman Catholic liturgy, an Austrian traditional song and an African-American spiritual. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in Talbot Theater, and features music ranging from the late Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic and Modern periods to folk, hymn concertato, musical comedy, early American, swing and spiritual arrangements.

Nicholls vocal music education alumna Tonia LeBlanc-Hampton, who is now the choir director at Thibodaux High School, will return to campus as a guest soloist. Instrumentalists will include Ashlee Hernandez, instrumental music education senior from Houma, flute; Michael Klaus, music junior from Thibodaux, double bass; and Michael Prejean, instrumental music education senior from Houma, percussion.
