Marilynne Robinson, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for her novel “Gilead” will present a lecture entited “Is There One American Culture?” on Nov. 13, 2009.
The series will consist of a question and answer session with Robinson at 10:45 a.m. in Le Bijou Theater. A reception will precede the lecture at 5:30 p.m. in the Ponder Room of Powell Hall. Lecture follows in Powell Auditorium at 6 p.m. (more…)

FINE DINING, AUCTIONS FEATURED AT BITE OF THE ARTS
The 13th annual Bite of the Arts gala, Nicholls State University’s premier fundraising event for the John Folse Culinary Institute, is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, at the Nicholls State University Cotillion Ballroom.
This year’s celebration will feature the cuisine of renowned French Chef Paul Bocuse. For more information click here

On Saturday, October 31st, in conjuction with Family Day, Nicholls Athletics will be hosting the annual Stroll for Student-Athlete Scholarships. The Stroll is all about raising money for student-athlete scholarships at Nicholls. Your participation and support will continue to allow our athletes to excel academically as well as athletically. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m.The cost for participation is $10. Everyone who participates will receive a t-shirt and a free breakfast upon conclusion of the Stroll.
Make it a family affair, bring the kids. There will be special “treats” for children 10 and under along the Stroll route. We are looking for team captains to coordinate a team of at least 10 members.
Nicholls State University invites students, their families and the entire community to its Family Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, next to John L. Guidry Stadium.
The festivities include live music by Treater; numerous food booths offering jambalaya, hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, cotton candy and more; large inflatables; face paintings; and displays and interactive games sponsored by departments and organizations.
Family Day participants may purchase reduced-admission tickets to the 1 p.m. Nicholls vs. McNeese State football game for $10 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at West Gate 2 and East Gate 1 of the stadium. Food tickets purchased for use at Family Day booths will also be accepted at concession stands inside the stadium.

Celebrate your Constitutional rights!
In observance of National Constitution Week, complimentary, pocket-sized copies of the U.S. Constitution will be distributed from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25 in the lobby of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union.
