The Student Programming Association will hand out free slices of delicious watermelon slices at its annual Watermelon Day from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, in front of the Student Union. The event will feature music and information about joining SPA. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stop by.

The International Film Club will present a free showing of the French film, “Toute Une Vie (And Now My Love),” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 13, in LeBijou Theater.

The film, which was nominated for a 1975 Academy Award, explores destiny and true love through the intertwined lives and destinies of three generations. Everyone is invited to attend.

An orientation specifically geared toward first-semester students who are 25 years or older will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, in the Captain’s Room of the Bollinger Student Union. Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m.

Students are invited to an open meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 5, in Talbot Hall Auditorium to share their ideas and comments about the design of the future Nicholls mascot.

Nicholls has hired a consultant, Rickabaugh Graphics of Ohio, to assist with the design process. The company will develop at least three visual concepts for the university to consider in time for the beginning of the fall 2008 semester. (more…)

Nicholls will host an orientation program for parents of first-time freshmen on Tuesday, June 3, in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Student Union. Check-in will begin at 4:30 p.m., with dinner begin served at 5 p.m.
