Lori Bolden
B.S. General Family and Consumer Sciences/Child, Family and Social Services, 2005
Lori Bolden knew her talents. She just wasn’t sure how they could fit in with her career … that is, until this performer, singer and songwriter composed “Looking Out for the Family,” a song for the Nicholls Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.
Now she’s putting her other talents to work at the state Department of Labor. As the local veteran employment representative, Bolden assists veterans in gaining employment by conducting seminars and job search workshops and establishing job search groups. A veteran herself, Bolden facilitates employment, training and placement services for veterans in the tri-parish area.
While at Nicholls, Bolden was a member of Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society, National Social Workers Association, American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the American’s Veterans League. She also was honored as a President’s List Scholar, Outstanding FACS Student and Who’s Who Among College Students recipient. Bolden is currently working on her graduate degree in social work at Tulane University.
“Find out who you are by getting involved in the department,” Bolden advises current students. “There is so much to do. Find your niche, not your neighbor’s niche, and you will develop in the FACS environment.”
