Dr. Lloy Lane Brigham
Associate Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences
From New York to Mississippi to Iowa, Dr. Lloy Lane Brigham traveled the country to earn degrees and gain invaluable experience before settling down in Cajun Country.
Before joining the Nicholls staff in 1996, Brigham taught psychology and psychotherapy courses at Upper Iowa University and speech communication at Iowa State University. Prior to that, he taught psychology and sociology at Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa.
Brigham is a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Louisiana. Before settling in Louisiana, he gained professional experience as a family therapist and clinical supervisor at the Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic in Iowa and as a psychotherapist at Quakerdale Adolescent Residential Treatment Center, also in Iowa.
Brigham’s research efforts include parenting and its effects on child development, the effects of teaching styles on student learning and linking family studies scholars with policy-makers.
