Monica Oncale

Assistant Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences

Monica Oncale brings a wealth of professional and academic experience into her child, family and social services courses.

Before earning her current position as an assistant professor in 2000, Oncale served as a social worker assistant for a private psychotherapy practice, the director of social services for the Lafourche Parish Juvenile Justice Facility and a social worker at the Trauma Recovery and Counseling Center.

Oncale is a licensed clinical social worker and board approved clinical supervisor. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Lafourche Parish Prevention Partnership, Louisiana Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society.

In addition to her responsibilities within the Nicholls Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, Oncale teaches graduate clinical courses at the Tulane School of Social Work and operates a private psychotherapy practice, where she specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents and families.
