MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
Any student majoring in family and consumer sciences is eligible for membership. Students are encouraged to affiliate with the national organization, the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Dues are $10 a year.

ACTIVITIES:
NAFCS sponsors a pumpkin painting party, a departmental spring picnic and a Spring Fling social. NAFCS contributes to the community in many ways. In Spring 2007, NAFCS members volunteered at Great Strides on the Bayou. Great Strides is a walk to raise funds to cure cystic fibrosis. NAFCS members assist with the event, sponsor the kids corner and raise funds to help cure cystic fibrosis. NAFCS also participates in university events, such as Welcome Back Day, for which they are the recipient of the Most Spirited Department Award, and Family Day.

NAFCS members attend the annual state conference each year. Four Nicholls students have been elected to state officer positions of the student chapter of LAFCS. Members also have the opportunity to attend the annual national conference (AAFCS).
