Continuing students may be eligible for privately funded scholarships. Available scholarships are posted in the Financial Aid Lobby and are e-mailed to all faculty, staff, and student University e-mail accounts. Students should check their Nicholls Student e-mail account weekly. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Aid.

The following scholarships will be awarded as funding permits:
A+ LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to students with an overall high school grade point average of at least a 2.5, a minimum ACT of 20, and extensive leadership involvement in high school and/or community. This award is for a period of one year and is valued at $500 per year.
ACADIAN AMBULANCE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student classified as a sophomore or higher majoring in the Emergency Medical Services. It is valued at $500 per semester for one academic year provided the student maintains a 2.5 GPA.
AIRBOAT TRANSPORTATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a Morgan City High School graduate with a 3.5 grade point average. Applicant must be a full-time student, business administration major, and St. Mary Parish resident.
AGRICULTURE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to an outstanding junior or senior of the Department of Agriculture on the basis of scholarship, leadership activities, and service to the university and community.
HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded on the basis of a student’s overcoming adversity, critical financial need, personal potential and academic achievement, school and community involvement, work history, character, and promise of future contributions to society.
ALUMNI FEDERATION SCHOLARSHIPS are annually awarded to full time students who have completed at least 30 credit hours and have at least a 3.0 grade point average. Recipients are selected in the spring by an alumni committee on the basis of scholarship, leadership, and need. Each scholarship is valued at $800 per semester.
LULA AMEEN FRESHMAN ART SCHOLARSHIPS of about $300 each are awarded for one year to incoming art freshmen on the basis of a grade-point average of at least 3.0 and the submission during the first week of May of ten completed works for faculty review.
AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF DRILLING ENGINEERS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time Petroleum Technology student.
AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION - AMIS DE LAFOURCHE CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a Lafourche Parish resident attending Nicholls. Applicants must be women seeking a business or professional career, must have financial need and must be in good academic standing.
AMERICAN CULINARY FEDERATION-BAYOU CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a sophomore with at least 2.50 GPA majoring in CAAS or CABS. The student must have completed at least twenty hours at Nicholls State University. The student must also have a recommendation from a NSU faculty member, who is not part of the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute and a recommendation from an American Culinary Federation-Bayou Chapter active member, who is not part of the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute faculty.
AMERICAN LEGION LENOX HOTARD POST No. 31 SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a senior enrolled in a public or parochial school in Terrebonne Parish. Applicants must maintain a 2.0 grade-point average and submit a letter of recommendation from a senior sponsor, school principal, or senior guidance counselor.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY POST No. 31 - HENRY ROBERTSON SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a first semester freshman enrolled in a Nicholls nursing program. The scholarship, valued at $200 per semester, is awarded each fall semester.
ANTHONY J. ROUSE, SR. SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time Culinary Arts major. Applicant must be a part-time employee of Rouses Supermarkets.
JULIE A. ARD SCHOLARSHIP is awarded through the College of Business Administration to a female student of junior standing who is enrolled full time and has a minimum 3.2 grade-point average.
ART DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time incoming freshman majoring in art. A portfolio is presented to the Art Department in April or May of each year.
ENOLA JEANDRON AUTIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student enrolled in the clinical phase of one of the Nursing Programs. The student must demonstrate financial need and have a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average in courses that apply toward the major.
GIBSON J. AUTIN, JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student enrolled in the clinical phase of one of the Nursing Programs. The student must demonstrate financial need and have a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average in courses that apply toward the major.
EASTMAN AUTO-CHLOR SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time Culinary Arts Bachelor of Science degree major of junior standing with a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
VICTOR BAILLIET SCHOLARSHIP IN SUGAR TECHNOLOGY is awarded to a U.S. citizen who is a Nicholls student of sophomore standing enrolled full time. Applicants must have a 2.5 grade-point average or better and must major in agricultural business or be from a family with a background in sugar production. Applicants must possess leadership qualities and should have an instructor’s recommendation.
BAND SCHOLARSHIPS are offered by the University to students for participation in the Nicholls Band. Auditioning before members of the music faculty determines amounts awarded.
BANK ONE EXCELLENCE IN WOMEN’S ATHLETICS SCHOLARSHIP. The recipient must be a high school graduate who demonstrates strong academic and leadership achievements and is a female athlete who will compete in intercollegiate sports at Nicholls State University. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student. The recipient may keep the scholarship for four years provided she meets all the criteria and maintains a 2.0 overall GPA and NCAA eligibility.
BANK ONE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time business major of at least sophomore standing with a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average. The applicant must be a student-athlete, graduate of any school in Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Mary, or St. Charles Parishes, and show financial need.
R.H. “DICKIE†AND CHARLENE BARKER EXCELLENCE IN MARINE AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP. The recipient must be a full-time graduate student who is majoring in Marine and Environmental Biology. The recipient must also be a resident of either Lafourche or Terrebonne parishes. The scholarship is valid for two years provided he or she meets all the above criteria and maintains a 3.0 overall GPA.E.
ANN BARKER, M.D. SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time or program full-time junior or senior in the Nursing Program or Allied Health Sciences Program with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicant must be a resident of Terrebonne or Lafourche Parish and 23 years of age or older.
MIKE BAUER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP applicants must be outstanding juniors or seniors majoring in economics or finance at Nicholls.
BAYOU CHAPTER MEDICAL MANAGERS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student who is registered full-time (12 or more hours of credit courses) with at least sophomore standing. The applicant must have and maintain a 2.50 GPA, and remain a Healthcare Management major.
BAYOU DISTRICT DIETETIC ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded to outstanding undergraduate students in dietetics. The junior award is presented to a sophomore who will enter the junior year in the fall. The senior award is presented to a junior who will enter the senior year in the fall. Recipients must be registered for at least 12 hours in the fall before receiving the award. The graduate award is presented to a senior; the recipient must be accepted into an internship or AP4 program before receiving the award.
BAYOU EDUCATIONAL FUND OF HOUMA, INC. SCHOLARSHIP of $1,000 per year is awarded to a recipient from Terrebonne, South Terrebonne, H.L. Bourgeois, Ellender, or Vandebilt high schools and who has a 3.0 or better grade-point average.
BAYOU OAKS HOSPITAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a junior or senior in good standing majoring in general family and consumer sciences (child, family, and social service concentration). The recipient must be a full time student with a minimum grade-point average of at least 3.0. Need, character, and desire to pursue a master’s degree in social work are also considered. Applicants should not hold a major scholarship. The scholarship of $500 is awarded at the beginning of the fall semester.
BAYOU SOCIETY FOR HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student classified as a junior or senior majoring in Human Resource Management. The student must be in 300 level business courses with a 2.5 GPA. The student must also be a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.
BAYOU WOMAN’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student of sophomore standing who graduated from a Thibodaux high school and has at least a 3.0 grade-point average. This scholarship continues until graduation as long as the requirements are met each semester.
BAYOULAND ARTS, INC. SCHOLARSHIP of $250 a semester is awarded to a full time student in the fall semester only.
SERGEANT BRADLEY J. BERGERON ENDOWED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student with an overall GPA of 2.50. The scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of 8 semesters. The applicant must be a member or dependent of a member of the armed forces of the United States of America, including active duty, active reserve, or the National Guard. Retirees or members who have been honorably discharged and their dependents are also eligible to apply. Preference will be given to a member or the dependent of a member of Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 156th Merchandized Infantry Regiment of the 256th Combat Brigade, whether active, retired, or honorably discharged.
BIOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time biology major of at least sophomore standing with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. The student must also be a student athlete at Nicholls State University.
BITE OF THE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP (Freshman) is awarded to an incoming freshman majoring in Culinary Arts with a minimum high school grade point average of 2.5 and a minimum ACT composite of 20. Extra-curricular activities will also be considered.
BITE OF THE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP (Continuing) is awarded to a Culinary Arts major with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. High school grade point average and ACT scores will be considered when applicant has completed less than 30 hours of college credit.
GERALD B. BLAKEMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to an accounting major of at least sophomore status with a 3.0 grade point average. Need, personality, character, purpose, and leadership also are considered. The recipient must be a resident of Thibodaux or Morgan City. Should no applicant meet this requirement, applicants from Lafourche or St. Mary parishes will be considered.
BOB BLAZIER BROADCAST SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to a full-time mass communication junior or senior in broadcasting who has at least a 2.5 grade-point average.
BLOCK AND BOUTERIE ATTORNEYS AT LAW EXCELLENCE IN PRE-LAW SCHOLARSHIP. The recipient must be a resident of Lafourche, Terrebonne, or Assumption parishes. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student majoring in Pre-Law at Nicholls
State University. The recipient may keep the scholarship for four years provided he or she meets all the criteria and maintains a 3.0 overall GPA.
THE BOYSIE AND JOY BOLLINGER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN CULINARY ARTS is awarded to a freshman who is qualified for the TOPS program. The student must be a resident of Louisiana and be enrolled full-time in the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute and have demonstrated a commitment to the culinary profession through two letters of reference.
GEORGE L. BOLLINGER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded by the B. and B. Towing Co., Inc. each year to deserving high school graduates of
Lockport. The recipients, the number, and the amounts are determined by the sponsor based on academic standing, need, purposefulness, and qualities of leadership. Recipients must maintain at least a 2.0 grade-point average.
BOURGEOIS EXCELLENCE IN MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a freshman who has earned at least a 2.5 GPA in high school and who plans to major in Manufacturing Technology. The recipient must be a resident of Lafourche, Terrebonne, or St. Mary parishes. The recipient must also be enrolled as a full-time student. The scholarship is valid for four years provided he or she meets all the above criteria and maintains a 2.5 overall GPA.
ROBERT W. BOQUET SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time Nicholls student for one academic year on the basis of great financial need when funding is available.
CARSON BROOME MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to full-time student. The recipient must have been diagnosed as dyslexic or as having a relating learning disorder accommodated by the Louisiana Center for Dyslexia and Related Learning Disorders.
BUQUET FOUNDATION FOREIGN STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student of any classification. The recipient must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. The scholarship is for one academic year and the recipient must be a foreign student from a country of origin experiencing economic hardship or political strife.
JAMES J. BUQUET SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student enrolled in the College of Business Administration. Recipients are chosen each spring by the University Scholarship Committee.
C&C TECHNOLOGIES SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded to qualifying incoming freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior students majoring in Geomatics. The recipients must be full-time students and maintain a 3.00 or above overall GPA. The recipients must also maintain a 3.00 GPA or above in the core Geomatics curriculum.
CALECAS SCHOLARSHIP FOR CULINARY ARTS is awarded to a Culinary Arts major who has completed a minimum of 30 credit hours. The student must be recommended by one Chef John Folse Culinary Institute faculty member and maintain a 2.75 GPA.
RAYMOND J. CALECAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a junior nursing student enrolled in the clinical component of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. Applicants must be residents of Lafourche Parish, demonstrate a financial need and have a 3.0 grade point average in courses that apply toward the major.
CAPITAL ONE NATIONAL BANK EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a freshman who plans to major in Business and qualifies for the TOPS program. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student at NSU. The recipient may keep the scholarship for four years (eight semesters) provided he or she meets all the criteria and maintains a 3.00 overall GPA. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. Income must fall in the low to moderate range.
CALLAIS COMPANIES ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student at Nicholls State University. The recipient must be an employee or dependent of an employee of a company owned by the Callais Family. If a qualified employee or dependent are not available, the recipient must be a graduate of a Louisiana high school with at least a 2.50 GPA. The qualifying companies are Cablevision and Community Bank.
CANDY FLEET SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to dependents of employees of Candy Fleet. Second choice is given to graduates of
Morgan City High School with a high school GPA of at least 3.0. Applicant must be enrolled in at least 15 hours.
CASEY GALLOWAY ENDOWED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP IN BIOLOGY is awarded to a graduate of Berwick High School who demonstrates strong academic and leadership achievements and plans to major in Biology. The recipient must be enrolled as full-time student (12 or more hours of credit courses).
ALMA STARK CECIL SCHOLARSHIP is a one-time scholarship awarded to a full-time student with a 2.8 cumulative GPA, majoring in General Family and Consumer Sciences. The student must be enrolled in an internship or student teaching.
BENNY CENAC SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student majoring in Computer Information Systems with a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA and a minimum of a 3.5 GPA in CIS courses. This is a one-time scholarship valued at $500.
MAURICE CHARITAT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student majoring in Business Administration or Accounting. The student must be a resident of Lafourche Parish, demonstrate financial need, and have a minimum of 3.0 grade point average.
MINOR AND LOUELLA CHERAMIE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a graduate of South Lafourche High School who qualified for the Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS). The recipient must be a full-time freshman (12 hours) and maintain an overall GPA of at least a 2.50. This scholarship is valid for eight semesters at $400 each semester provided all criteria is met.
CHEF JOHN FOLSE & COMPANY DINNER SCHOLARSHIP AND CHEF JOHN FOLSE & COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP are awarded to students in the Culinary Arts degree program who are eligible for graduation at the end of the semester for which the scholarships are awarded. The students must receive a recommendation from a Chef John Folse Culinary Faculty member and from a Nicholls State University Faculty member not associated with the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute. The students must have a minimum 3.00 GPA and must be enrolled full-time.
GILBERT CHERAMIE BOATS, INC. SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a child of an employee of Gilbert Cheramie Boats, Inc. with a 3.0 GPA. or higher. The student must enroll as a full-time student each semester.
EUGENIA S. CHURCHILL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student majoring in vocal music.
COMET PRESS NEWSPAPERS, INC. BUSINESS FELLOWSHIP is awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding academic ability in high school, has graduated from a high school in the south central Louisiana area, and is a full time student of sophomore standing in the College of Business Administration. The University Scholarship Committee will take the recommendations of the
College of Business Administration’s scholarship group in determining the selection. The student must have maintained an overall 3.0 grade-point average in his or her first semester. The scholarship consists of $500 for the academic year.
THE COMMUNITY BANK EXCELLENCE IN MASS COMMUNICATION ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP recipient is chosen by the University Scholarship Committee after considering applications from entering freshmen who are graduates of a Louisiana high school. The four-year award pays about $1,000 a semester as long as the recipient is a full-time student in mass communication and earns at least a 2.75 grade-point average each semester.
CONGRESSMAN BILLY TAUZIN SCHOLARSHIP IN MASS COMMUNICATION WITH A FOCUS IN PUBLIC RELATIONS is awarded to a full-time student at Nicholls State University, who has earned a minimum of 30 semester hours. The applicant must remain a Mass Communication major with a focus in Public Relations and retain a 3.00 overall GPA.
COASTAL COMMERCE BANK EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a freshman who plans to major in Business. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student at Nicholls State University. The recipient may keep the scholarship for four years (eight semesters) provided he or she meets all the criteria and maintains a 3.00 overall GPA.
LORAINE M. COOK HONORARY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a senior in education who has at least a 3.0 grade point average and is student teaching. A new recipient is named each regular semester by the University Scholarship Committee.
THE COURIER DAILY COMET JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP of $300 a semester goes to a graduate of a public or parochial high school in Terrebonne Parish who is interested in print journalism or advertising.
CHARLENE CRAWLEY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student of at least sophomore standing with a minimum 3.4 grade point average. Applicant must be a Louisiana resident majoring in English, Art, French, History, or Music.
CROSBY TUGS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a South Lafourche graduate with a 3.0 grade point average. First priority given to dependents of employees of Crosby Tugs.
CULINARY AWARD is awarded to a full-time Culinary Arts Associate of Science Degree major with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Student must be in the last semester of school.
CYCLE WORLD SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student of at least junior standing with a 2.5 GPA. Applicant must be a College of Business major and a resident of Lafourche or Terrebonne Parish. The applicant cannot be receiving any other awards.
THE D’ARCANGELO EXCELLENCE IN ACCOUNTING ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a freshman who plans to major in Accounting. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student. The scholarship is valid for four years provided he or she meets all the above criteria and maintains a 2.0 overall GPA and a 2.5 average in Accounting.
THE GERALD DAIGLE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to students living in Terrebonne Parish who maintain at least a 2.6 GPA and are pursuing work in theater and arts related fields.
ALLEN J. DANOS, SR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to students who graduated from a public or private high school with a minimum GPA of 3.25 and a minimum ACT of 18. A home-school student must have a minimum ACT score of 21. Preference will be given to first-time freshmen and dependents of employees of Danos & Curole. The recipient must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and must be enrolled with at least 15 hours.
CARRIE K. DAVIS MEMORIAL GRANT FOR FINE ARTS is awarded to a Fine Arts major who resides in Iberia Parish and has completed his junior year with a 2.75 GPA or better.
WOODROW J. DEFELICE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a high school graduate who demonstrated strong academic and leadership achievements and maintained an overall 3.0 average. Applicants must plan to enroll full time at Nicholls, be residents of Lafourche Parish, show financial need and have an overall ACT score of at least 22. To retain this scholarship, the recipient must maintain an overall 2.5 grade-point average while at Nicholls.
DELTA KAPPA GAMMA SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to an elementary or secondary student teacher who is a resident of Terrebonne Parish and maintains a 3.0 GPA.
DELTA ZETA SORORITY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student majoring in speech and communicative disorders. Applicants must be graduates of Nicholls area high schools, must have at least junior standing, and at least an overall 3.0 grade-point average. Recipients must maintain at least a 3.0 average while holding the scholarship.
DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS AND FINANCE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student in a curriculum within the Department of Economics and finance of at least sophomore standing with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
R. H. “DICKIE†AND CHARLES BARKER EXCELLENCE IN MARINE AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time graduate student who is majoring in Marine and Environmental Biology. RAY DIDIER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student who is a prospective athlete for Nicholls varsity sports.
DR. AND MRS. ROBERT H. “BOB†DOLESE ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to the member of the Rotaract Club with the highest grade point average.
DONALDSONVILLE MUSIC CLUB SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a music major with first priority extended to residents of Ascension, Assumption, or St. James parishes.
JOSEPH L. DREXLER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a first-time freshman or a transfer student approved by the President or the Vice President of Student Affairs with a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Undergraduates must enroll each semester with 12 hours or more and graduates must enroll with 9 hours or more.
LOUISE STARK DREXLER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a first-time freshman or a transfer student approved by the President or the Vice President of Student Affairs with a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Undergraduates must enroll each semester with 12 hours or more and graduates must enroll with 9 hours or more.
WILLIAM L. DUNCAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student and member of the Nicholls golf team. The recipient may be of any undergraduate classification and must have at least a 2.0 grade-point average. The director of athletics at Nicholls shall submit the name of the recipient to the chairman of the University Scholarship Committee and the scholarship award will consist of $100 per regular semester.
ALLAN AND HELENA DUSENBURY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a resident of Terrebonne or Lafourche Parish who is a full time student of any classification with at least a 2.5 grade-point average.
SENATOR CLAUDE B. DUVAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student enrolled at Nicholls.
EARLY ADMISSIONS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to high school seniors with a minimum ACT score of 19 and a minimum 2.5 high school GPA. The student must be expected to complete 16.5 core units as defined by TOPS. A transcript must be submitted along with a recommendation by a high school principal based upon academics.
EAST HOUMA LION’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a graduating senior from a Houma high school who plans to enroll at Nicholls.
THE EDITH AND JAMIE WALKER SCHOLARSHIP was established by John S. Mudd, will be used to help defray costs for a dyslexic student who has been accepted or is currently enrolled at Nicholls State University. The student must have a high school GPA of 2.00 or higher, or if presently enrolled at Nicholls, have a current cumulative GPA of at least of 2.00. The recipient must show promise in his or her studies as determined by the departmental head of the undergraduate program in which the student seeks to obtain a degree. If the chosen student has been awarded previous scholarships that will cover the cost of a full tuition, said student will have to forego this scholarship and this scholarship may be given to another student who meets the criteria set forth in the agreement. Should additional criteria be required for selecting a student, then special consideration shall be given to those students who have the greatest financial need, with said need being closely correlated with family income (the determinant of family income to be that which is reported on Federal Tax returns). To a lesser extent, the DONOR requests that special preference be given to students from the state of Louisiana.
ELEANOR DANSEREAU ELLIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a graduate of Terrebonne High School with at least a 2.0 grade point average.
RAYMOND ELLIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time junior or senior with at least a 2.8 cumulative external GPA. The recipient must maintain at least a 2.0 for the fall semester in order to receive the scholarship for the fall semester.
TIM AND NICOLE EMERSON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FOR NON- TRADITIONAL STUDENTS is awarded to a student who is classified as a “non-traditional†student (twenty-four years or older) at the time of the award. The student will be enrolled full-time at Nicholls State University. The student will maintain an overall GPA of 3.00 as determined by the GPA after the end of each spring semester. The student will demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid Office. An entering freshman can be awarded the scholarship on the basis of an ACT score of 20 or its equivalent on another standardized test. The student may retain the scholarship for a maximum of eight semesters. The recipient of the scholarship should participate in a minimum of ten hours of community service a semester. The recipient shall contact the department head in his/her major to work out the details of the community service.
ENTRE NOUS SCHOLARSHIP goes to a full time student of at least junior standing who has maintained a satisfactory academic average and who holds no major scholarship. Applicants must be graduates of a Thibodaux high school. First priority is given to a student whose parent is a member of the Entre Nous Club. Need, personality, purpose, and leadership are also considered by the Student Employment and Scholarships Committee. The recipient must maintain at least a 2.0 grade-point average.
EVERGREEN LION’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually after applications are made directly to the club’s office in Houma and the club notifies the University of its selection. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 grade-point average. The award is valued at the amount of tuition.
THE LOUISE R. FLAGOUT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP IN CULINARY ARTS is awarded to a female junior or senior enrolled full-time (12 or more hours of credit courses) in the Chef John Folse Culinary Arts Program. The recipient must maintain a 2.50 or higher GPA and demonstrate financial need.
THE FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE is awarded to a full-time junior or senior student majoring in General Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Child, Family and Social Services, Vocational Family and Consumer Sciences Education or Birth to Five/Early Interventionist Education. The student must be a member of NAFCS. Eligibility requirements are: completion of 60 semester hours with a 3.00 or above GPA, need, service activities and professional participation. The $300 annual award is paid in equal disbursements at registration for the fall and spring semesters.
FEMMES NATALES CLUB OF THIBODAUX SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student of at least junior status who is a graduate of a Thibodaux high school. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 overall grade point average and must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average. No other scholarship is to be held other than one covering registration fees.
FIREFIGHTERS DISABILITY EXEMPTION SCHOLARSHIP was established according to Act No. 873 of the 1985 regular session of the Louisiana Legislature. Any child of a firefighter injured in the course and scope of his or her duties is to be considered for this scholarship provided that the injury resulted in an inability for the parent to continue to be employed. Applicants must be enrolled as full time students. The scholarship is renewed for eight semesters as long as the student maintains a cumulative and semester grade-point average of at least 2.0 and is a full time student.
FIRST AMERICAN BANK SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to full-time students with low to moderate family income. The applicants must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. The applicants must also reside in one of the following parishes: Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, St. Charles, and St. James. One recipient will be selected from each of the previously mentioned parishes, the scholarship is valid for one semester.
FREDDIE JOHN FALGOUT POST #3665 of Raceland awards an annual cash grant to a deserving student of the Raceland Lockport area. The recipient is chosen by the scholarships committee of the post.
ROBERT WAYNE FOLSE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a graduate of Central Lafourche high school with a minimum 2.55 high school GPA. Applicant must be a full-time student.
FORTY AND EIGHT SCHOLARSHIP, sponsored by Voiture Locale #1038, is awarded to full time students who have completed at least one semester of the nursing curriculum. Eligibility will be determined on the basis of need; however, consideration will be given to purpose, character, and personality. Applicants should have at least a 2.0 grade-point average in the nursing major courses and must maintain this average. The scholarship of $500 per regular semester continues until the students graduate or fail to meet minimum requirements.
FORTY AND EIGHT VOITURE LOCALE 1522 SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time nursing student with a 2.0 GPA or better. The scholarship is valued at $500 per semester.

FREDERICK A. DOUGLAS TEXTBOOK AWARD is awarded to a full-time student of sophomore, junior, or senior standing maintaining at least a 3.00 GPA. The applicant must be involved in at least two extra curricular activities and must write an essay on the term self-made and what it means to them. The applicant must also attach a co-curricular with the application.
LESTER & MYRTLE FREMIN CULINARY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time Culinary Arts major in the bachelor or associate degree program. First priority given to employees of Flanagan’s Restaurant or Flanagan’s on the Green.
VERNON F. GALLIANO SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a deserving incoming freshman from south Louisiana with an ACT score of at least 22.
NOLAN J. GAUBERT EXCELLENCE IN PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES ENDOWED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a freshman who plans to major in a discipline which culminates with the awarding of a Bachelor of Science degree and who is a resident of Lafourche, Terrebonne, or Assumption parishes. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student. The scholarship is valid for four years provided he or she meets all the above criteria and maintains a 2.5 overall GPA.

JOHN B. GORDON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to one or more full time students holding at least a 2.0 grade-point average and majoring in mass communication. First priority goes to students planning newspaper careers and who are residents of Terrebonne Parish or graduates of Terrebonne Parish high schools. Second priority goes to students from anywhere planning a newspaper career.
LEILA GRAHAM SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time Student with at least a 2.5 GPA majoring in a program with in the Agriculture Program.
RITA GRENIER SCHOLARSHIP, donated by Lafourche ARC (a mental retardation agency) in honor of Mrs. Rita Lagarde Grenier, is awarded to a full time undergraduate special education major who is a sophomore, junior, or senior. A grade-point average of at least 2.75 is required to continue the scholarship of $500 a semester.
CLIFT GRESHAM SCHOLARSHIP is awarded by the Nicholls Alumni Federation to an upperclass business major with a minimum of a 3.0 grade-point average.
DR. RIDLEY J GROS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to junior in the College of Business Administration with at least an overall 2.80 GPA. The scholarship will be based predominately on demonstrated leadership and the potentiality for excelling in a leadership position. Previous recipients of the scholarship are not eligible to reapply. The recipient must use the award to attend the College of Business Administration the following academic year.
GUARANTY BROADCASTING COMPANY OF HOUMA, LLC SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to full-time junior or senior with at least a 3.00 GPA. The student must be a Mass Communication major with a concentration in Broadcasting and/or Sales. The student must also have an interest in Broadcasting and must demonstrate financial need.
DR. GRACE MONK GUEYDAN SCHOLARSHIP is based solely on merit. Race, color, creed or ethnicity shall not be used to select the recipient. The recipient shall be TOPS qualified and a full-time student majoring in the College of Nursing and Allied Health. The recipient shall maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
DALE A. GUIDRY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student of any classification who has graduated from H.L. Bourgeois, Vandebilt Catholic, or E.D. White Catholic high schools and whose parents are members of the Schriever Volunteer Fire Department.
KEITH T. AND RITA HAMILTON ENDOWED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP IN EDUCATION is awarded to a student with at least sophomore status who has a minimum GPA of 3.25. The recipient will perform three hours of service a week at a Lafourche or Terrebonne Parish elementary public schools. Service will consist of tutoring at-risk students, assisting teachers in the classroom environment, or performing other services as deemed appropriate by the Lafourche or Terrebonne Parish School Board staff and the Nicholls State University College of Education Supervisor of Student Teaching.
F. MAX HARDBERGER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time senior in pre-medicine/biology who has at least a 3.5 grade point average.
SGT. CALVIN R. HEBERT, JR. MEMORIAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student who is a graduate of a Terrebonne Parish public school and who lives in Terrebonne Parish and is commuting to Nicholls. The scholarship shall cover tuition and necessary fees plus a sum, to be determined by the Student Employment and Scholarships Committee, to be used for the purchase of books. Selection of recipients shall be made by donor’s advisory committee or the Student Employment and Scholarships Committee. Applicants must have a high school grade point average of at least 1.8. To retain the scholarship a recipient must maintain the following grade point average: First Semester - 1.5; Second Semester - 1.8; Third Semester and thereafter - 1.8 and also a 2.5 in recipient’s major field of study. The recipient must hold no other major scholarship. Financial need and purpose shall be considered.
L. J. HEBERT, JR. BANKING SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student of junior standing with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Applicant must have banking career interests.
STEPHANIE HEBERT CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF DYSLEXIA ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student enrolled at Nicholls State
University who has been diagnosed with dyslexia and participates in the programs provided by the Center for the Study of Dyslexia. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student and may keep the scholarship for eight semesters provided he or she meets all the above criteria and maintains a 2.00 overall GPA.
CECIL HENDERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP, a one year award of $500 per semester, goes to a graduating senior from Hahnville
High School who will major in education. The recipient will be selected by a committee composed of the principal, three teachers, and the St. Charles Parish assistant superintendent of education. The recipient must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and a composite ACT score of at least 17. If the student does not maintain a 2.5 grade-point average the first semester, or changes major, the University will select a senior education major from St. Charles Parish.
HERMANAS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP goes to a full time student of at least sophomore status who has maintained a satisfactory academic average and who holds no college-issued scholarship other than one covering registration fees. Applicants must be majoring or minoring in special education. Need, personality, purpose, and leadership are also considered by the Hermanas Club. The recipient must maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average.
THOMAS B. HOLCOMBE, SR., MATHEMATICS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time undergraduate student majoring in mathematics. The scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student with a minimum GPA of 3.0, at least junior classification, and completion of linear algebra (MATH 360). The $5,000 award is divided equally between two semesters, provided minimum standards are maintained each semester. These standards include being a full-time student, maintenance of a minimum GPA of 3.0, and successfully conducting scholarly activity under the direction of a designated mathematics faculty member. Generally awarded annually.
HOUMA CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN PETROLEUM INSTITUTION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student of sophomore status. First priority will be given to engineering technology majors for $250 per regular semester. The recipient must be a graduate of one of the high schools of Terrebonne or Lafourche Parish and must hold no other scholarship, unless approved by the Board of Directors of the Houma Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute. The recipient must maintain at least a 2.5 grade-point average on all work at Nicholls to retain the scholarship. Need, personality, purpose, and leadership are considered.
HOUMA LION’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP assist two students per year and provide $500 each. Recipients must be full time Nicholls students who are enrolled as freshmen.

The recipient must be at least of sophomore status, must be a resident of Terrebonne Parish, must demonstrate financial need, and must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. The recipient must also perform three hours of service a week at a Terrebonne Parish elementary public school.
CLARENCE “C. J.†JAMES MEMORIAL MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to minority students with an overall high school GPA of at least 3.0 and a minimum ACT of 20. This award is for a maximum period of four years, provided funding is available and the student maintains full-time status and a minimum 3.0 semester GPA. This award is valued at $1,000 per academic year or $4,000 over a four-year period.
JEFFERSON PARISH COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to valedictorians of the Jefferson Parish public high school system in an amount totaling $2,000 over a continuous four year period, or $250 per semester. The recipient is permitted to receive $1,000 per year, including this grant, and any amount in excess of $1,000 is decreased from the grant.

THE JONES INSURANCE SERVICES SEPTEMBER 11, 2001, MEMORIAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to an employee of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office or any municipal police department domicile in Lafourche Parish. The families of these officers (spouse and children) are also eligible to apply for this scholarship. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student. The scholarship is valid for four years provided he or she meets all the above criteria and maintains a 2.5 overall GPA.
DR. D. G. JOSEPH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time senior who is student teaching. The recipient must have a 3.5 GPA.

THE BERYL ANN KRAEMER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to students of freshmen classification who are residents of the Sixth Ward of Lafourche Parish. Recipients must be high school graduates of E.D. White Catholic or Thibodaux High Schools, enrolled at Nicholls State University as a full-time student, and have a 2.8 or better cumulative grade point average. The scholarship shall be awarded each Fall semester to entering freshmen. Awards shall be $50.
L&M BO TRUC RENTALS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time freshman who is a graduate of South Lafourche High School with a 3.0 grade point average. First priority given to dependents of employees of L&M Bo Truc Rentals.

LADY OF THE SEA GENERAL HOSPITAL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a Louisiana resident who is a resident or a former resident of the Lady of the Sea Hospital district. This applicant must be enrolled in the nursing program.
HENRY J. LAFONT, JR. SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time incoming freshman from South Lafourche with a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
LAFOURCHE ASSOCIATION FOR FAMILY AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student who has completed a minimum of 72 semester hours majoring in the area of Family and Consumer Sciences. The applicant must have a 3.000 or better overall average. Character, purpose, and leadership are other qualities that will be considered in addition to academic standing. Lafourche Parish students will be given priority, with students from surrounding parishes receiving second preference.
LAFOURCHE BAR ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Must be a graduate of a Lafourche Parish school and have completed at least 25 semester hours. Preference given to applicants majoring in Legal Assistant Studies, Criminal Justice, or working toward the Pre-Law Option.
THE LAVERNE LAWSON EXCELLENCE IN NURSING ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a high school graduate of Central Lafourche High School who demonstrates strong academic and leadership achievements and plans to major in Nursing at Nicholls State University. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student at Nicholls State University. (A full-time student is defined as a student enrolled in 12 or more hours of credit courses.) The recipient may keep this scholarship for four years provided he or she meets all the above criteria and maintains a 3.00 overall GPA.
THOMAS LAWSON EXCELLENCE IN ACCOUNTING ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a graduate of Central Lafourche High School who demonstrates strong academic and leadership achievements and plans to major in Accounting in Nicholls State University. The recipient must be enrolled full-time (12 or more hours of credit courses).
TODD & SUSAN LAWSON SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student majoring in agriculture. The applicant must reside in Assumption, Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Charles, St. James, or St. Mary parishes. The applicant must have at least a 2.50 GPA at the time of application and must maintain at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA. The applicant must be classified at least a sophomore at the time of application. Applicant must submit a one page essay explaining future goals as they relate to agriculture. One letter of recommendation must accompany the application and must be from a person not related to the applicant. Financial need should be a top priority consideration. The application must also be notarized.
THE NICHOLAS LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time (12 hours) student of junior status or better majoring in either Information Systems or Computer Science. The applicant must be a resident of Lafourche, Terrebonne, or Assumption Parish with at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
DANIEL LEBLANC MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student who has completed a minimum of 15 semester hours at Nicholls in dietetics. The recipient must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0. Character, personality, leadership, and participation in professional organizations are also considered. The scholarship, valued at $500, is awarded in the spring semester.
IRMA C. LECHE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to the student employee who has displayed hard work, outstanding character, and unselfish service throughout their assignment period.
LOUIS P. LEDET MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student who graduated in the upper half of their high school class and maintains a 2.0 GPA in their college studies. Continuing students are eligible if they meet admissions standards for incoming freshman. Need, citizenship and community service, school leadership, and recommendations will be considered.
L.C. “DIDI†LEVERT, JR. SCHOLARSHIP is usually awarded to an agriculture major who is a descendant of a J.B. Levert Company employee. Second priority goes to an agriculture major who is a child of an employee of J.B. Levert Land Company and third, to an agriculture major from Lafourche Parish. The scholarship committee will select an applicant with at least a 2.0 grade-point average and full-time status.
TIMOTHY R. LINDSLEY, JR. MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a music major of a sophomore status or above. The applicant must have completed at least 12 or more hours each semester to include at least one primary ensemble and private studio study. The recipient must maintain a minimum overall grade-point average of 2.5 for all courses and display positive attitude towards studies, display leadership, and be of service to the music program.
PHANINDRANATH LINGAMALLU MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a chemistry major who intends to pursue a career in medicine. Applicants must be full time students with minimum grade-point averages of at least 2.5.
STUART A. LIRETTE, SENIOR, MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND IN ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY STUDIES. The applicant must be TOPS qualified, must be a biology major with a concentration on Environmental Biology. The recipient must be a full-time student and maintain an overall 2.5 GPA.
LOUISIANA LAND AND EXPLORATION COMPANY annually awards two grants to Nicholls students of senior standing, primarily for qualities of scholarship and leadership as well as in recognition of the values of higher education. One scholarship goes to a student either who will major in or shows interest in marine biology; the other goes to an outstanding member of the senior class. Other factors are also considered. Recipients are chosen entirely by the Nicholls Student Employment and Scholarships Committee.
LOUISIANA SHRIMP ASSOCIATION ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN MARINE BIOLOGY is awarded to a resident of Louisiana. Preference will first be given to students whose family members are involved in the shrimp industry and secondly to those living in the eight-parish region served by Nicholls State University. The recipient must be TOPS qualified, have at least a 3.00 GPA, and majoring in Biology with a concentration in Marine Biology.
LOUISIANA SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL SURVEYORS EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time freshman majoring in Geomatics and must maintain a 3.00 or above overall GPA.
LOUISIANA STATE RALLY SCHOLARSHIPS, sponsored by the Louisiana High School Rally Association, are awarded to the holders of the highest overall scores in each of the forty State Rally literary events. These are one time $500 (freshman year) cash awards to any college in Louisiana.
WALTER LOWREY MASS COMMUNICATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a mass communication major on the basis of need, grade-point average and professional potential.
LILLIAN STARK LUNDEEN SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a first-time freshman or a transfer student approved by the President or the Vice President of Student Affairs with a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Undergraduates must enroll each semester with 12 hours or more and graduates must enroll with 9 hours or more.
M&L ENGINES SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to full-time incoming freshman who is a resident of Lafourche or Terrebonne Parish. First priority given to dependents of employees of M&L Engines.
THE LESLEY WHARTON MARCELLO ENDOWMENT FOR OUTSTANDING STUDENT PUBLICATION SERVICE is awarded to a full-time (12 hours) student in good standing with the university at the time of nomination. The recipient should have worked in Student Publication at Nicholls State University for at least a semester prior to nomination. The application will include an essay on why working on the university newspaper or yearbook has or will help them in their majors, careers, or life. The application will include a letter of nomination from someone who is best suited to nominate the student for this award, preferably someone in Student Publications who has had a chance to observe the student.

E. R. T. MARQUETTE, C.P.A., ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to an accounting senior, without restrictions as to sex, race, color, or creed. Applicants must have completed their junior year with the highest grade point average of all junior ACcounting majors in the College of Business Administration. MCDERMOTT AID TO EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded to an outstanding junior and senior enrolled in civil engineering technology. DEBRA BARTELS MELTON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN NURSING gives preference to a dependent of an employee of Eagle Consulting LLC/Facilities Incorporated or a member of the Mulberry Baptist Church of Houma, Louisiana. If no dependent or church member qualifies, the scholarship may be awarded to another student who meets the remaining criteria. The recipient will be a freshman who is TOPS qualified, enrolled full-time in the baccalaureate nursing program, and a Louisiana resident. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

THE MILLER BREWING COMPANY FRESHMAN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP is awarded each academic year to three incoming freshmen having at least a 3.0 grade-point average and a minimum ACT score of 22; recipients must be full time students at Nicholls. One recipient will be chosen from each of the following marketing areas: Louisiana Beer (Thibodaux High, E.D. White Catholic, Assumption, Donaldsonville, St. James and Ascension); Delta Distributing (Central Lafourche, South Lafourche, Grand Isle, Hahnville, Edgard, and West St. John); Svoboda Distributing (Terrebonne, South Terrebonne, H.L. Applicants must plan to enroll full time at Nicholls, be graduates of Thibodaux High School or E.D. White Catholic High School, and have an overall ACT composite score of at least 22. To retain the scholarship, recipients must maintain an overall 2.5 average while attending Nicholls. Recipients cannot hold a University of Louisiana System academic award.
NEW ORLEANS PUBLIC SCHOOLS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student who is designated by the New Orleans Public Schools Foundation.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS SPORTS MEDICINE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student of junior or senior standing majoring in Athletic Training Science, Health & Wellness, or Sports Medicine. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
NEW YORK TIMES FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded to deserving minority students in mass communication who are planning careers in print journalism or advertising.
NICHOLLS DEPARTMENT OF NURSING SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student enrolled in the clinical nursing program. Applicants must have completed all first year courses in the nursing sequence before the summer session of the year the award is presented. There will be one recipient at any given time. A maximum of $500 per year will be awarded, and the sum will be divided into three semesters, including the summer session. The amount may vary each year.
NSU ALUMNI FEDERATION SCHOLAR/LEADER AWARDS are awarded by the Nicholls State University Alumni Federation to full-time incoming freshmen with a 3.25 grade point average, an ACT score of 20 or above, at least five high school extracurricular activities, and three or more years of leadership duties. This scholarship is awarded for a one year period and is valued at $800 per semester.
JO CAROL NOLEN SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student majoring in communicative disorders who has at least an overall 3.0 grade-point average and at least a 3.5 grade-point average in communicative disorders courses. Applicants must be active members in the Nicholls chapter of the National Student Speech, Language and Hearing Association and must submit the proper scholarship application before the required deadline. Application forms may be obtained in the Department of Speech and Communicative Disorders.
NORWEST FINANCIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student who is at least a sophomore or above. The recipient must be a business major with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. The recipient must also work 20 hours or more a week.
PARALEGAL ASSOCIATION OF NICHOLLS STATE UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled in the Nicholls legal assistant studies program. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 grade-point average in all courses to be eligible for the next semester and must demonstrate financial need.
PATTERSON ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student enrolled for at least 15 hours a semester and who has at least a 2.5 grade-point average. This one-year scholarship is $250 per semester.
THE ADAM SCOTT PECORARO HONORS PROGRAM ENDOWED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is award to a full-time student enrolled at Nicholls
State University in the Honors Program. The recipient must plan to participate in the summer Study Abroad Program and have the highest cumulative GPA, the spring semester prior to the summer program, of all students planning to participate in the program. Upon completion of the Study Abroad Program, the recipient must write an essay explaining what the study abroad experience meant to him or her.
WILLIS AND MILDRED PELLERIN SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student with demonstrated financial need. The applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and a minimum 20 ACT score. Students already in college may apply unless the student is in the final year of his/her post-secondary studies at time of application.
PEGGY PALMER PERDUE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time education major of at least sophomore status who is a resident of Morgan City. Second preference goes to applicants from St. Mary Parish.
INGREE COOPER PETERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to the second-semester freshman with the highest grade point average.
CRIT PETTY EXXON SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student. Need is a consideration. Awards are between $400 and $750 per semester.
FLORINE A. PETIT EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student majoring in education of at least junior standing who is in need of financial assistance. Applicants must be from the Tenth Ward of Lafourche Parish and maintain at least a 2.5 grade-point average each semester. The scholarship is for $200 a semester through the senior year as long as the criteria are met.
ENEST PIERCE, III SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time sophomore majoring in agricultural business who has at least a 2.5 grade-point average. Once selected, the student will receive the scholarship until graduation. Criteria for selection include scholarship, need, and leadership.
ROYCE J. PIERCE NURSING SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student who demonstrates financial need and is from Lafourche Parish, preferable Lockport or below. The student must be admitted to the clinical component of the BSN program, where they are enrolled on a full-time basis. The student must be in good academic standing in the BSN program.
ORLEANS A. AND LOUELLA PITRE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a graduate of South Lafourche High School who qualified for the Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS). The recipient must be a full-time freshman (12 hours) and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.50. This scholarship is valid for eight semesters at $400 each semester provided all criteria is met.
PHYSICAL SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student of at least sophomore standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA. The student must be majoring in a curriculum within the Physical Sciences Department. The student must also be a student athlete.
POLICE JURY ASSOCIATION OF LOUISIANA SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to a resident of Louisiana, who is a senior and a graduate of a Louisiana high school. Student major is determined on a yearly basis. The recipient must be of good moral character, make good grades, and be active in extra curricular activities.
POLICE OFFICERS EXEMPTION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student whose parent was a police officer or deputy sheriff killed or permanently disabled in the performance of duty. The scholarship is continued for eight semesters of attendance.
THE FRANK & EDNA PORCHE AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIPS IN MEMORY OF FRANK PORCHE is awarded to high school graduates who demonstrate strong academic and leadership achievements and who are majoring in Agricultural Business at Nicholls State University. The recipients must be enrolled as full-time students at Nicholls State University. (A full-time student is defined as a student enrolled in 12 or more hours of credit courses.) The recipients may keep this scholarship for four years (eight semesters) provided they meet all the above criteria and maintain at 2.800 overall GPA. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. Prospective students must write a brief essay which will focus on why they have a desire to become an Agricultural Business student and how they believe this may help their respective communities. One of the three scholarships will be made and promoted specifically for any student who is (a). gay, (b). lesbian and /or (c). transgendered. Should such a student not apply who meets this criteria, the reserved scholarship shall be awarded as per the stipulations outlined in the above criteria.
JAMES LYNN POWELL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to a full time student of at least sophomore status, who has a minimum overall grade-point average of 2.0, is a Louisiana resident and holds no University issued scholarship other than one covering registration fees. Need and purpose are primary considerations.
PRESS CLUB OF NEW ORLEANS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a Louisiana resident who is enrolled in the print or broadcast journalism program.
PRO-NSU ACADEMIC/ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a female student athlete with at least a 3.0 GPA. and a male student athlete with at least a 3.0 GPA. PRO-NSU SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to a Louisiana resident of at least junior standing with a minimum grade-point average of 2.5. The scholarship is $250 each semester.
RACELAND SUGARS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student enrolled in the agriculture curriculum. At least a 2.5 grade-point average must be maintained for the first two semesters and a 3.0 thereafter.
RAE SHIPYARD SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time freshman who is a graduate of South Lafourche High School with a 2.5 grade point average. Applicant must be a business major.
DR. JAMES G. RAGAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a junior or senior majoring in biology who has at least a 3.0 grade point average.
RIENZI SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student enrolled in agriculture and also to a full time student enrolled in business administration. Recipients must maintain at least a 2.0 grade-point average in order to hold the scholarships for four years or until graduation. Funds must be used only for living and instructional expenses. Priority is given to the children of employees of the J.B. Levert Land Company, Inc.
E.G. ROBICHAUX SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time freshman with at least a 2.0 grade-point average. The $350 award is for one semester.
ROTARY CLUB OF GRAND ISLE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student who is a graduate of Grand Isle High School.
LOUIS ST. MARTIN GRADUATE MATHEMATICS FELLOWSHIPS are awarded to full-time graduate students pursuing a master’s of science degree in mathematics. The awards are made to graduate students with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and successful completion of the Graduate Record Exam. The $10,000 awards are for a four-semester period provided minimum standards are maintained each semester. These standards include being a full-time student, maintenance of a minimum GPA of 3.5 with no grade lower than B, and successfully conducting scholarly activity under the direction of a designated faculty member. Recipients will also be offered a teaching graduate assistantship in the Department of Mathematics which is currently funded at $6,000 per academic year. This total package yields $11,000 per academic year for two academic years. Generally awarded annually.
LOUIS ST. MARTIN SCHOLARSHIP FUND is awarded to a junior student in the RN program or the last year of the LPN program. The recipient must be a full-time student enrolled in at least 15 hours. The applicant must also have a 3.0 GPA and must maintain a 3.0 GPA.T.
BAKER SMITH SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time student enrolled in Civil Engineering Technology. Recipient must have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours toward the civil engineering option and have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.75. Each scholarship is valued at $500 per semester.
WESLEY SMITH NURSING SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time nursing student who has at least a 2.5 grade point average. First priority is given to residents of Terrebonne Parish.
SARA SOLLARS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student majoring in legal assistant studies or criminal justice and who shows financial need. Awards are $200 per year.
SOUTH CENTRAL CHAPTER OF LOUISIANA CPA’S SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student majoring in accounting who has senior status by the fall semester. The recipient must also have a 3.0 overall grade point average and a 3.0 grade-point average in accounting. Selection will be based on grades and contribution to school and community. Applications can be obtained from the head of the Department of Accounting each March. Selection will be made before the end of each spring semester.
THE SOUTH LOUISIANA BANK SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a senior from a Terrebonne Parish high school. The applicant must have a 3.0 GPA in high school and an 18 cumulative ACT score. Financial need will be considered. The student must enroll as a full-time student and maintain a 2.00 GPA.
SOUTH LOUISIANA ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded to entering freshmen enrolled as full time students at Nicholls who live along South Louisiana Electric Cooperative Association lines, and whose immediate family is a South Louisiana Electric member. Recipients must have maintained at least a 2.0 grade-point average in high school and must hold no other major scholarship. The number and amounts shall be determined by the association. The chairman of the Nicholls Scholarship Committee will send written reports to the Board of Directors of the association and the board will name the recipients.
BEVERLY STAFFORD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full-time female student majoring in H&PE. The recipient must be a
Louisiana resident and maintain a 2.5 GPA. This scholarship is valued at $500.00 per semester for one academic year.
DR. THOMAS STARK SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a first-time freshman or a transfer student approved by the President or the Vice President of Student Affairs with a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Undergraduates must enroll each semester with 12 hours or more and graduates must enroll with 9 hours or more.
RONNY J. STERNFELS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a high school graduate from Assumption Parish who has demonstrated strong academic achievement and attained an overall 3.0 grade point average. Recipient must be a full-time student.
STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION sponsors two Raymond Ellis Memorial Scholarships. Covers $250 each semester for a male and female with a 2.8 official cumulative (external) GPA to receive in Fall. Must maintain at least a 2.0 semester grade to keep for Spring, and a full time student of Junior or Senior status. A 200-word essay on the Impact of Civil Rights Movement is required.
STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS are six scholarships ranging from $200 to $300 each presented to six students who show past leadership achievement. Awards for continuing students (4) are made each regular semester at mid term to students enrolled for at least seven hours; two awards are made to entering freshman.
SUGAR INDUSTRY SCHOLARSHIPS of $3,200 each are awarded by individuals and businesses interested in agriculture to outstanding high school graduates planning careers in agriculture and who attend their freshman year at Nicholls. This scholarship program assists students from the parishes of Ascension, Assumption, Iberia, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John,
St. Martin, St. Mary, and Terrebonne.
SYNERGY BANK EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a freshman who plans to major in Business. The recipient must be enrolled at a full-time student and may keep this scholarship for eight semesters provided he or she meets the above criteria and maintains a 3.00 overall GPA.
TA WA SI CLUB SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a freshman enrolled full time and having a grade-point average of at least 2.0. Application should be made to the Ta Wa Si Club of Thibodaux.

LAURA TEMPLET MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to an American citizen enrolled in a nursing curriculum who has at least a 3.0 grade-point average. Applicants must meet academic entrance requirements and exhibit a great desire to be in nursing.
THE TERREBONNE ASSOCIATION FOR FAMILY AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION’S JEAN PICOU/HOMEMAKER COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to a student majoring in family and consumer sciences or agriculture. The recipient must be a full-time student with an overall grade-point average of at least 2.5. The $300 scholarship is awarded at the beginning of the fall semester.
TERREBONNE FINE ARTS GUILD, INC. SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a Terrebonne Parish high school graduating senior planning to major in fine arts, art education, or an art related field. Applicants must maintain a 2.5 overall grade-point average with a 2.5 average in all arts courses and be enrolled full-time.
TEXACO, INC. SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student having at least a 2.5 grade point average. First priority is given to engineering technology majors.
TEXACO PHILANTHROPIC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time Nicholls undergraduate for four years, or until baccalaureate degree requirements are completed, whichever occurs first. The recipient is expected to complete baccalaureate degree requirements within six years. The scholarship is valued at $2,500 per year.
DR. JUDY THERIOT LEADERSHIP AWARD is awarded to a full-time student of senior standing majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences, who has earned a 2.7 GPA with a 3.0 in FACS courses.
THIBODAUX HOSPITAL AUXILIARY NURSING SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a nursing student. Thibodaux High School graduates are preferred, but consideration is given to all applicants. The recipient must maintain at least a 2.0 grade-point average for at least one semester and hold no other major scholarship.
THIBODAUX LION’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP IN COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS is awarded annually to the junior and senior communicative disorders majors with the highest cumulative grade-point average through the fall semester. The scholarships are valued at $250 per student.
THIBODAUX LITERARY CLUB awards a scholarship annually to a worthy graduate of one of the two high schools of Thibodaux.
THIBODAUX SERVICE LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time student in good standing in the fall semester of his or her senior year with a semester and cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.5. Besides being of outstanding character and reputation, the recipient must have a background of volunteerism in the community or at Nicholls. The scholarship is automatically renewed for the spring semester if the recipient continues to meet the criteria. Awards are $1000 per year.
THIBODAUX PLAYHOUSE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to students who maintain at least a 2.5 grade-point average and are active in Nicholls theatrical productions of the Department of Speech and Communicative Disorders.
THIBODAUX VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a dependent of a member of the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department and must be of good moral character. The applicant must be a graduate of an area high school and have graduated with a 3.0 g.p.a. The applicant must enroll as a full-time student and carry a minimum of 15 credit hours.
THIBODAUX WOMAN’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a graduate of either Thibodaux High School or Edward Douglas White Catholic High School.
BYRON C. AND EDNA G. THOMPSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to one or more full time students majoring in agriculture or agronomy but may be awarded to students in any field of study. Recipients must be above the freshman level, must maintain at least a 2.0 grade-point average, and must hold no other scholarship other than one covering registration fees. Recipients are selected by the University Scholarships Committee based on academic standing, need, purposefulness, and qualities of leadership.
REGIE TRUXILLO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a dependent of an employee of Crosby Tugs, Inc. The recipient must be a full-time student and must maintain an overall 2.5 GPA.
WAL MART FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a Nicholls student enrolled full time and who has at least a 3.0 grade-point average.
VIKIN RANGE CORPORATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to student with a 2.00 GPA average as a Culinary Arts major classified as either CAAS or CABS.
WHC, INC. SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a full time Nicholls student, having a minimum of 15 semester hours; it continues for a maximum of four years. Eligibility will be determined primarily on the basis of need; however, academic standing and personality also are considered. Funds must be used for living and instructional expenses only. Applicants must maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average each semester and earn a minimum of 15 semester hours. Applicants must not hold any other major scholarships.
WALLS SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded to mass communication majors who are high school graduates from Lafourche, Terrebonne, or St. Mary Parishes pursuing courses of study in print journalism or advertising. Second priority is given to students of any parish. The awards are about $800 a year and are renewable.
C. GLENN WALTERS MARKETING SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a marketing major of at least junior standing with a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or above.
MARY B. WELCH MEMORIAL AFRO AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to full time Afro American students of at least sophomore standing who are enrolled in the four year or two year nursing program with first priority given to a four year program student. Applicants must have completed at least a semester and have cumulative grade-point averages of at least 2.5 and must maintain this minimum while a recipient of this scholarship. Applicants must live in Lafourche, Ascension, Terrebonne, Assumption, or St. Mary Parishes. Need will be considered with great emphasis. This scholarship will automatically be renewed each year if the recipient meets the stated requirements.
BETTY WENTER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a communicative disorders major who is a full time student with a minimum 3.0 grade point average and a minimum 3.5 overall grade point average in communicative disorders courses. The recipient must be an active member of the Nicholls chapter of the National Student Speech, Language and Hearing Association. Each scholarship is valued at $100 per semester.
WINN-DIXIE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a Nicholls student employed part time by Winn-Dixie Food Stores. Students must maintain at least a 2.0 grade-point average to retain the scholarship until graduation. Inquiry can be made at the appropriate Winn-Dixie personnel office.
