Dr. Ken Chadwick remembers the respect and concern the Nicholls State University faculty members showed him as an undergraduate economics student. Since 2000, he has strived to provide that same valuable interaction to students in the same place as he once was.
“As a student, I attended three different universities. Nicholls’ faculty members were by far the most approachable,” Chadwick says. “Seeing what a difference some of my professors had on my life played a major role in my decision to enter the field of academia.”
Before entering the academia field, Chadwick worked as a real estate agent at Century 21 Acadia Realty. In 1988, he co-founded Property Management and Rentals Inc., a company specializing in the management of both residential and commercial rental properties in the Thibodaux area.
In 1995, Chadwick and his family moved to Ruston, where he earned a Doctorate of Business Administration at Louisiana Tech University in 1998. He then began teaching at the College of Business Administration at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, before returning to Nicholls as an assistant professor of management in 2000.
Chadwick is now head of the Department of Management and Marketing and associate professor of management at Nicholls. Through collaborations with colleagues, Chadwick has written grants totaling almost $400,000, which has been used to purchase new technology, create new computer laboratories and develop a student resource center.
