Mission Statement
The NSU Family Service Center's mission is to create
safe home environments by enhancing conflict resolution
and changing behaviors within the family unit to reduce
the probability that child abuse and neglect will occur.
The Department of Family and Consumer
Sciences believes in promoting community involvment
so every family and child has an opportunity to experience
a quality of life conductive to maximizing individual
potential.
Service Parameters
The Family Service Center provides
services for children and families in Lafourche, Terrebonne,
and Assumption parishes who are identified as at-risk
for experiencing low to moderate harm within the family
system.
Safe and Stable Families Information
The Family Service Center was
established in 1998 through a $900,000 contract awarded
to the Department of Family and Consumer
Sciences at Nicholls State University from the state
of LA Office of Community Services.
Th NSU Family Service Center
will offer both assisted referrals and supportive services
to bring Louisiana into compliance with the requirements
of the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997.
