CART Crisis Screener, St. Mary / Assumption Parish
Amanda Barras, MAPC, CART Crisis Screener became involved with the Family Service Center in 2004 when she was hired as a group leader for the annual Get Connected Summer Youth Camp. After this time, her love for helping families and children in need inspired her desire to become involved with the center. In the Spring of 2005, Ms. Barras became a contractual provider in the fulfillment of several positions: mentor, parent coach, family coach, parenting co-facilitator and event manager of summer camp. In 2008, she was hired fulltime as the Parent Coordinator to assist in the facilitation and management of all parenting services serving. In 2011, she was hired as a CART Crisis Screener to provide immediate response to children and their families residing in Region 3 in times of crisis. Ms. Barras services children and adolescents in St. Mary and Assumption Parishes by providing assessment, intervention, services, and referrals for youth in crisis, or in need of mental health services.
Her education includes a Master of Psychological Counseling from Nicholls State University and a Bachelor of General Studies degree with a dual minor in Psychology & Addictive Behaviors from Nicholls State University. She is currently pursuing approval for supervision towards professional licensure to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Louisiana.
