Fraternities at Nicholls How To Join a Fraternity Requirements and Standards

Currently, Nicholls State has 9 fraternities active on campus.  These fraternities are separated by councils which are their governing organizations.  The two councils, the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), not only set guidelines and plan events for the chapters at Nicholls, but they are also national organizations.

How to Join a Fraternity

Joining an IFC Fraternity

tke1IFC holds a formal membership recruitment period called “Rush” at the beginning of each Fall semester.  Rush is typically a four night event that begins with an informational session that allows you to gain a better understanding of Greek Life and the Fraternity system at Nicholls.  After that there are nights aimed at letting you meet each individual fraternity and it’s members.  The rush week concludes with men being offered bids to join fraternities.

Joining an NPHC Fraternity

NPHC holds a Joint-Interest Meeting  at the start of each semester where all members of NPHC organizations come together to educate the student body about NPHC and each organization.  After the initial Joint Interest Meeting, each organization holds an interest meeting for students who are interested in finding out more information about an organization.

Requirements and Standards

nphc1All men interested in joining must be full-time Nicholls Students.  There is also a minimum 2.3 GPA required to participate in rush, join a fraternity, and stay an active fraternity member at Nicholls.  These standards show the Universities ongoing commitment to help Greek Life thrive and are applicable to all Greek organizations at Nicholls.

Select organizations may also require students who participate in rush/recruitment to have a specific number of credit hours already completed or a higher GPA.
