Student health insurance is now optional
There will no longer be a mandatory student health insurance fee charged to students. This means that you will not see a charge on your fee bill for the student medical/health insurance. There is an optional policy that students may select.
The new carrier for the optional Student Health Insurance policy plan is Student Assurance Services, Inc. If you want to purchase this insurance you must go to the Student Assurance Services web site www.sas-mn.com to sign up for the new student health insurance policy.
Since the cost of this insurance policy will not be included on your student fee bill, you must purchase this insurance coverage separately at either the Student Assurance Services web site or the local agent. Their contact information is listed below.
The cost of this insurance policy for Nicholls State University Students is $576.00 for the fall 2012 semester, $576.00 for the spring 2013 semester, and $351.00 for the summer 2013 session. The reason for the increase in price is due to federal changes made to the minimum coverage amounts for health insurance.
