Homecoming Parade Rules

1005-homecoming-parade-28.jpgThe following is a list of the 2008 Homecoming Parade rules. All organizations participating in the parade are expected to abide by these rules and to conduct themselves in a positive manner. You will be representing your organization and the entire Nicholls State community.

  • The following items are PROHIBITED on all parade vehicles, floats, rides, etc. throughout the parade route:
    • alcoholic beverages
    • glass containers
    • tobacco products
  • Parade throws are limited to candy, gum, beads and Nicholls paraphernalia.
  • All floats/parade vehicles must be at John L. Guidry Stadium by 4 p.m., no later. Parade will leave the stadium promptly at 5 p.m.
  • Once the parade has begun, participants must stay in/on their vehicle and remain in/on their vehicle throughout the entire parade route. Only those groups who have registered as walking/marching groups will be permitted to walk the parade route.
  • Misconduct, including but not limited to lewd behavior and vulgar language, by an individual or organization will result in immediate removal from the parade and/or appropriate criminal and/or disciplinary action will be taken against the individual and organization.
  • Any music played must be radio edited. This means that it cannot have inappropriate or foul language. This also includes comments on microphones.
  • A copy of these rules must be given to the float/parade vehicle driver, and a member of the University Homecoming Committee will check all vehicles during the parade line-up. Anyone, including persons not affiliated with the group, should also read the rules.
  • The University Homecoming Committee reserves the right to refuse, deny or remove from participation any individual or group whose conduct, dress and/or float/parade vehicle design violates the spirit of Homecoming Week.
  • All organizations must submit a complete application in order to participate to the Office of Student Life.
  • All participating organizations must have a float/organization captain present at the Homecoming Parade meeting.

Line-up for the parade is at John L. Guidry Stadium at 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008. The NAACP Party will follow the parade at 10:00 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom.
