Dr. John Doucet’s broad interests and expertise make him uniquely qualified to direct this multidisciplinary University Honors Program. His main field of study is human molecular genetics. He is also a poet, playwright, columnist and editor. He has received many honors, including two National Institute of Health Research fellowships, the Louisiana Division of the Arts Fellowship in Playwriting and the Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence.
In the University Honors Program,Doucet teaches HUMA 111 Honors Forum, BIOL 372 Honors Topics in Biology and BIOL 406 Honors Colloquium in Biology. He is also the instructor of HONR 401 Honors Prospectus and HONR 402 Honors Thesis. He is faculty advisor of the Honors Student Council.
