The Foreign Language program at Nicholls State University seeks to give its undergraduates a well-rounded introduction to the language, literature, and culture of France and Francophone cultures, as well as Spanish cultures.
French students pursue their training through courses in civilization, stylistics, textual analysis, film and literature from the Middle Ages to the present.
A minor in French requires the completion of 24 semester hours with a minimum grade of C in all courses in French to include FREN 101, 102, 201, 202, 325, 326 and 6 semester hours of French electives from courses numbered 300 or above.
The Spanish minor offers students courses in language, culture and civilization. The program emphasizes intercultural communications with an emphasis on understanding culture through literature, history and language.
A minor in Spanish requires the completion of 24 semester hours with a minimum grade of C in all courses in Spanish to include SPAN 101, 102, 201, 202, 312, 318, 324, and 3 semester hours of a Spanish elective from courses numbered 300 or above.
