The goal of the Louisiana
Council of Teachers of English is to help the teachers of English-language
arts, grades kindergarten through graduate school, stay abreast of the latest
changes in the field and to help them enable their students to reach their greatest
potential. In order to achieve this goal, LCTE offers the following

state-wide annual conference held each fall · The

an exciting competition in English language arts skills for high school

for use with the 2006 special issue of the Louisiana
English Journal, “Memories of Katrina and Rita” As an affiliate of the
National Council of Teachers of English,
LCTE also helps support the activities of the national council. Members of
the LCTE board attend the NCTE fall conference and participate in the
