Text Box: Louisiana Council of Teachers of English

The goal of the Louisiana Council of Teachers of English is to help the teachers of English-language arts, grades kindergarten through graduate school, stay abreast of the latest changes in the field and to help them enable their students to reach their greatest potential. In order to achieve this goal, LCTE offers the following resources:

·          The Louisiana English Journal, which contains classroom ideas and original creative writing

·           LCTE Council Notes, the organization's official newsletter

·          A state-wide annual conference held each fall

·          The English Expo, an exciting competition in English language arts skills for high school students

·          A Classroom Guide for use with the 2006 special issue of the Louisiana English Journal, “Memories of Katrina and Rita”

 

As an affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of English, LCTE also helps support the activities of the national council. Members of the LCTE board attend the NCTE fall conference and participate in the national council's activities. The Affiliate Director is Millie Davis, who may be reached at NCTE headquarters:
