Professor Emeritus of Journalism

Dr. Alfred N. Delahaye established the Nicholls mass communication degree program in 1973 and continues to assist it in retirement. In 1983, Nicholls designated him a distinguished service professor.

He served in the Marine Corps and is a former newspaper reporter and editor. He is also the author of two books on the history of Nicholls State University. Delahaye earned journalism degrees at LSU and at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where he once taught. In his reporting and editing classes, he emphasized accuracy, fairness, basic English and much else, such as the importance of keeping up with current events.
