Assistant Professor of Business Administration
Both Dr. Norbert Michel’s career and research path have been anything but typical. While completing his PhD in Financial Economics from the University of New Orleans, Michel worked in the public policy arena as a tax analyst at The Heritage Foundation in Washington D.C.
After publishing several papers in the intellectual property field, Michel again concentrated on financial topics. Now, Michel publishes mostly in the area of banking, and even co-authors an annual report on the state of Louisiana banking.
Prior to joining the Nicholls State University Department of Finance and Economics in 2005, Michel taught at UNO, Loyola University, and George Mason University. So far, Michel has most enjoyed the people.
“From my colleagues to the students, I enjoy being around the people,” Michel says. “Our department is staffed with people who are passionate about their fields of study and who really care about their students’
education.”
In his spare time, Michel enjoys exercising and participating inoutdoor activities.
