Assistant Professor of Marketing
Dr. Bill Neese comes to Nicholls State with over twenty years of experience as a Marketing professor. He spent several years in construction, retail, and restaurant management before earning his doctoral degree in 1992. Dr. Neese previously earned tenure at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock (1995) and Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania (2006), both accredited by AACSB International. “I became a better professor due to my experience at both places,” according to Neese, “and I plan to make sure my students at Nicholls benefit from that.” Why did Dr. Neese pick Nicholls for this next step in his career? “When I interviewed here, I felt very comfortable and right at home,” he states. “I agreed with most everything I found out about how my colleagues conduct themselves on the job. I was particularly impressed with their orientation toward advising students and how dedicated they are to excellent teaching.”
Nicholls State University is a perfect fit for Dr. Neese. He likes more emphasis on teaching, but still enjoys doing research, going to academic conferences to present the papers he writes, and publishing articles in journals. His primary areas of expertise are in advertising and promotion, retail and distribution management, and legal-regulatory issues related to marketing. “I am also a big believer in community service,” he says. “For example, I served on the Board of Directors for two organizations in Pennsylvania. One was a ‘Main Street’ type nonprofit representing retailers in the Bloomsburg central business district, plus I served four years on the Board for Columbia Montour Visitors Bureau, the local state tourism promotion agency.” Dr. Neese plans to continue serving the university and business communities in his new home.
