Q. How do I enroll in the Department of Management and Marketing?
A. The process for enrolling is initiated in the Dean’s Office in 106 White Hall.
Q. How am I assigned an adviser?
A. Once enrolled in the department, you will be assigned a faculty adviser by the departmental secretary, Annette Adams. She can be reached at (985) 448-4175 or in 146 Powell Hall.
Q. What are the areas of concentration for a management degree?
A. Students majoring in management can choose, if they wish, a concentration in Human Resources.
Q. Can I minor in management?
A. Yes, the requirements for a minor degree in management are the completion of 18 hours of coursework, which includes Management 301, 15 hours from management courses and Marketing 470 or 475.
Q. What are the areas of concentration for a marketing degree?
A. Students majoring in marketing can choose, if they wish, to concentrate in Professional Sales.
Q. Can I minor in marketing?
A. Yes, the requirements for a minor degree in marketing are the completion of 18 hours of coursework, which includes Marketing 300 and 15 hours from marketing courses (at least six semester hours must be from 400-level marketing courses or Management 455).
Q. Are internships available?
A. Yes. Many of our students work as interns in their field before graduation. Students can receive up to three credit hours towards their degree requirements. Please see Dr. Marilyn Macik-Frey in 106 White Hall or visit internships for information and requirements concerning internships.
Q. What is the Study Abroad program offered by the department?
A. The Study Abroad program allows students to spend two weeks in Costa Rica, while earning up to six hours credit in a variety of business courses. The program, directed by Dr. Marilyn Macik-Frey, includes lectures, presentations, site visits, company tours and time to enjoy the local culture. More information can be found at Study Abroad.
