Three area nurses were honored for their service recently by the Xi Zeta chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing at Nicholls State University.
The honor society presented Xi Zeta Excellence Awards to the three nurses. Cynthia Hitt, a registered nurse and nurse director of 5 North (the medical/surgical unit) at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma, was given the Nurse Clinician Award. Teresita McNabb, a registered nurse and vice president of nursing services at TGMC, was awarded the Nurse Leader Award. The Nurse Educator Award was presented to Pam Porciau, director of education at River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace.
The awards recognize outstanding nurses, nursing administrators and nursing educators throughout the region and state. One award is given for each category at the annual awards banquet of the honor society. Recipients are nominated by peers and selected by a committee.
