Nicholls Concert Choir to Present Candlelight Christmas Concert

THIBODAUX – The Nicholls State University Concert Choir will present a candlelight Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, in Talbot Theater on the Nicholls campus.

The Concert Choir will perform familiar and not-so-familiar Christmas songs and carols linked together with narration read by Dr. Rick Duet, associate professor of mass communication, to tell the traditional Christmas story. Lighting will change with the musical selections to enhance the holiday experience for guests.

The 50-voice Concert Choir’s repertoire will include arrangements of Christmas favorites such as “Silent Night” by Wolfgang Lindner, “Joy to the World” by Jonathan Willcocks, “The Seasons of Man” by Fisher Tull and “Behold the Star” by William Dawson. Composed works will be by J.S. Bach, Craig Courtney, Hugo Distler, Bradley Ellingboe, Norman Luboff, Felix Mendelssohn, Daniel Pinkham and John Rutter.

Admission is free and open to the public. Casey Haynes, staff accompanist, will accompany the choir, and Dr. Kenneth S. Klaus, professor of music and director of choral activities at Nicholls, will conduct.
