Evacuation of Nicholls ordered; no shelters will be available
THIBODAUX – Having received the mandatory evacuation orders issued by Lafourche Parish earlier today, the administration of Nicholls State University announced this afternoon that Nicholls students will be evacuated from the campus by 2 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 30.
Only emergency personnel, including university police, will remain on campus.
Additionally, by order of the state of Louisiana, no shelters – including special needs shelters – will be operating on the Nicholls campus.
Once the approaching tropical system has passed, state agencies will determine the location and type of shelters, if any, that will be available within Lafourche Parish.
