Nicholls student selected to attend presidential inauguration

THIBODAUX – A Nicholls State University junior, Marquita Christy, has been invited to represent the state of Louisiana at the 56th United States Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C.

Pending sponsorship, the psychology major from Donaldsonville will spend several days touring the nation’s capital and meeting important decision-makers – culminating in the Jan. 20, 2009, inauguration of the president. Scheduled activities include the ceremony itself, followed by the traditional inaugural parade and a black-tie ball.

“It’s really exciting, especially with the historical nature of this election,” Christy said. “I don’t care who gets elected; this is a wonderful opportunity.”

Christy was chosen to attend the inauguration as a distinguished alum of the National Youth Leadership Forum, but to attend, she requires sponsorship. Call (225)717-0564 for more information.
