Retired Nicholls educator awarded prestigious title

THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University awarded Betty Elfert, retired associate professor of languages and literature, the title of associate professor emerita on Tuesday, Jan. 8. photo_002_small.jpg

The special honor was presented by university President Stephen T. Hulbert at the first faculty meeting of the spring semester, the Faculty Institute.

“The title recognizes Elfert’s exceptional dedication, outstanding accomplishments, professional contributions and 46 years of service to Nicholls,” Hulbert said.

Several privileges accompany Elfert’s new title, including use of the university library with faculty privileges and attendance at university convocations and commencements and participation in processionals.

Elfert retired from the university in May 2007.
