THIBODAUX – Colonel Tillou, Nicholls State University’s new costumed mascot, introduced himself to the Nicholls campus on Thursday, Aug. 27, as part of the university’s “Welcome Back Day” activities.

THIBODAUX – The Office of Continuing Education at Nicholls State University will offer a variety of non-credit courses for adults during fall 2009 and winter 2010.

THIBODAUX – A new video featuring Nicholls State University’s costumed mascot, scheduled to appear publicly for the first time later this week, has been posted to the university Web site at www.nicholls.edu/mascot.

THIBODAUX – Working media are invited to Nicholls State University on Thursday, Aug. 27, for “Welcome Back Day.” Highlighting this year’s event is the return of Colonel Tillou, the new costumed mascot who will make his entrance at approximately 11:45 a.m.

THIBODAUX – The Louisiana Board of Regents Educational Quality Support Fund recently provided $160,000 in matching funds to Nicholls State University to complete three endowed professorships and one first-generation endowed undergraduate scholarship. Private donations established the endowments, which now total $400,000.

THIBODAUX – The Nicholls State University Division of Student Affairs honored outstanding faculty service to students at the first faculty meeting of the fall 2009 semester, conducted Thursday, Aug. 13.

THIBODAUX – Dr. James Edward Barr, retired distinguished service professor at Nicholls State University, was awarded the title of professor emeritus at the first faculty meeting of the fall 2009 semester, conducted on campus Thursday, Aug. 13.

THIBODAUX – With several tropical systems having already formed this hurricane season, administrators at Nicholls State University are prepared to maintain communication and offer assistance to the greater Bayou Region.

THIBODAUX – Dr. Chuck Viosca, assistant professor of marketing and assistant dean of the College of Business Administration at Nicholls State University, was awarded the Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence at the first faculty meeting of the fall semester, conducted Thursday, Aug. 13.

THIBODAUX – The Continuing Nursing Education program at Nicholls State University will conduct a team-building seminar on Thursday, Aug. 27, in the Ayo Hall auditorium on campus. All area educators – nursing or otherwise – are invited to register and attend.
