Nicholls faces mid-year budget cuts

THIBODAUX – The University of Louisiana System advised the administration of Nicholls State University that the university’s share of the $83.9 million mid-year budget cut announced by the governor’s office to higher education would be $1.64 million. The implementation plan for Nicholls and all of higher education is due to the governor’s office by Jan. 8, 2010. Nicholls breaks commencement record

THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University’s 85th commencement – held on campus Saturday, Dec. 12 – awarded more degrees to more graduates than any commencement in the university’s history. The institution awarded 674 degrees to 660 students who completed coursework in the summer and fall semesters. The previous record of 608 degrees was attained in fall 2008. Public invited to Nicholls Jubilee fundraiser, Dec. 7

THIBODAUX – Bayou Region residents are invited to an evening of fine dining and entertainment on Monday, Dec. 7, to help raise funds for the 12th annual Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities at Nicholls State University. The annual Christmas fundraiser is scheduled for 6:30 to 9 p.m. at 1871 St. Mary Street in Thibodaux – the home of Robert and Mary Bond.
