Adults invited to enroll in non-credit Nicholls courses

THIBODAUX – The Office of Continuing Education at Nicholls State University will offer a variety of non-credit courses for adults in the coming months. Details regarding selected courses follow:

Fabulous Falls

Students will learn to create their own unique styles in floral designs. Creations will be based on a seasonal theme and might include door wreaths, center pieces or sways. Participants are asked to bring wire cutters, scissors and a glue gun.

Dates: Oct. 13 and 15

Time: 6 – 7:30 p.m. (Tuesday and Thursday)

Place: 405 Gouaux Hall

Instructor: Cashanta R. Paige

Fee: $130 (An additional fee of $200 for flowers and course materials will be paid to the instructor at the first class meeting.)

Fresh Floral Creations

Students will create floral designs using fresh flowers. Some creations will include arrangements of roses, tropicals and other seasonal flowers. Particiapnts are asked to bring floral snips.

Dates: Oct. 27 and 29; Nov. 3 and 5

Time: 6 – 7:30 p.m. (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Place: 405 Gouaux Hall

Yuletide Floral Designs

Let’s Dance

Beginners and seasoned veterans can practice the rhythms of the fox trot, swing, jitterbug, waltz, rumba, tango and and cha-cha. Partners and singles are welcome.

Dates: Oct. 19, 26, Nov. 2, 9 and 16

Time: 7- 8 p.m. (Mondays)

Place: Shaver Dance Studio (2nd Floor)

Instructor: Angela Hammerli

Fee: $39

Beginning Cake Decorating

Participants will learn a variety of cake-decorating techniques including borders, garlands, embellishments, simple flowers and roses. Students will learn how to properly bake, fill, crumb-coat and ice a cake for a professional look. Participants should bring an apron and camera to class.

Dates: Nov. 7

Time: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Place: Century Room by Guidry Stadium
