Public invited to view a decade of landscape photography

THIBODAUX – Ten years’ worth of environmental photography will be on display at the Nicholls State University Sculpture Garden and Folk Art Studio in Chauvin on Saturday, May 23 – with an opening reception scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Coastal Landscape Photography 10th Anniversary Exhibition will feature photographs of endangered Louisiana estuaries – all taken by students of Nicholls, Southeastern Louisiana University and other institutions.

Since 1999, Dr. Gary LaFleur, associate professor of biological sciences at Nicholls – and Dennis Sipiorski, head of the Department of Visual Arts at Southeastern – have offered a unique, introductory photography course as part of the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium Summer Program. The resulting photographs will be on display for approximately a month.

The exhibition reception will take place at the Sculpture Garden and Folk Art Studio, located at 5337 Bayouside Drive in Chauvin, and will feature live music by Mellowberry.
