Nicholls awards nearly 650 degrees
THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University awarded 646 degrees on Saturday, Dec. 11, to students who completed coursework in the summer and fall semesters of 2010. The ceremony marked Nicholls’ 87th Commencement.

Nicholls breaks ground for recreation center
Nicholls State University hosted the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Harold J. Callais Memorial Recreation Center on Wednesday, Dec. 15, near the corner of Bowie Road and Ardoyne Drive.
Nicholls technological outreach impacts thousands
THIBODAUX – Social media applications and other technological outreach initiatives at Nicholls State University expanded to include several thousand users in 2010, with more users and at least one additional media service expected in 2011.
Governor’s Office of Disability Affairs recognizes Nicholls Dining Services
THIBODAUX – The Governor’s Office of Disability Affairs has awarded Nicholls State University Dining Services – administered by General Manager Richard Curtis of Sodexo – the Employer of the Year Award among its 2010 Governor’s Outstanding Leadership in Disabilities Awards.

THIBODAUX – The Bayou Region community is invited to the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Harold J. Callais Memorial Recreation Center at Nicholls State University, scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, near the corner of Bowie Road and Ardoyne Drive.
Elkins Hall features Ameen watercolors
Watercolors by Lula Ameen, the late namesake of the Ameen Art Gallery at Nicholls State University, now adorn the foyer of Elkins Hall, the university’s oldest building.
Capital One establishes scholarship at Nicholls
THIBODAUX – Capital One Bank donated $20,000 to Nicholls State University on Thursday, Dec. 2, to set up a scholarship for low- to-moderate-income students who meet entrance requirements.
Commissioner Strain to address Nicholls graduates
THIBODAUX – Mike Strain, commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, will deliver the keynote address Saturday, Dec. 11, when Nicholls State University confers approximately 500 degrees during commencement exercises in Stopher Gymnasium.
