Nicholls culinary fundraiser generates $80,000

The 14th annual Bite of the Arts, Nicholls State University’s premier fundraising event for the John Folse Culinary Institute, generated approximately $80,000 for institutional advancement.

Themed “Viva España: Celebrating the Spanish Influence in Cajun and Creole Cuisine,” the Nov. 11 event attracted more than 300 attendees. The festivity in the Bollinger Memorial Student Union included a cocktail reception and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a three-course dinner prepared by well-trained student culinarians under the direction of Chef Adolfo Garcia – owner of Rio Mar, La Boca, a Mano and Gusto restaurants in New Orleans. Pictured serving guests are freshmen culinary students Pamela Johnson of Thibodaux (left top), Beauandre Ball of Houma (right top) and Quayshaun Antoine of Shreveport (right bottom).
