The Nicholls State University Folk Art Studio in Chauvin, La., will host a children’s art exhibition Monday, March 1, through Saturday, April 3. The exhibition titled “My Wetlands,” is presented by Bayou Grace Community Services, a non-profit organization that provides outreach, services and advocacy to the 5 bayou communities of Terrebonne Parish (Bayou Petite Caillou, Bayou Terrebonne, Bayou Pointe aux Chenes, Bayou Grand Caillou and Bayou Dularge).
“My Wetlands” is a collection of drawings created by children living in THE 5-bayou region. The drawings depict the day-to-day life of the young artists and their connection to the wetlands.
A public reception to honor the artists is scheduled from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 7, at the Nicholls Folk Art Studio in Chauvin. The studio is open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. For more information call (985) 448-4597.
