Nicholls to receive nearly $1 million from federal government

THIBODAUX – In accordance with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Nicholls State University will receive $997,907 as part of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources’ “Lead by Example in State Buildings” program, designed to increase the energy efficiency of university buildings.

Planned projects at Nicholls include a window and door replacement in Elkins Hall, totaling $630,194; a window and wall replacement in Stopher Gymnasium, totaling $167,706; and a window and wall replacement in Galliano Hall Cafeteria, totaling $171,361.

“These improvements will help our university cut costs,” Mike Davis, assistant vice president for administration, said. “Elkins Hall, Stopher Gym and Galliano Hall are the campus facilities most in need of work, in terms of energy efficiency, and we look forward to the improvements getting underway.”

The ARRA stipulates that all improvements must be completed by April 2012.
