Oil spill responders from Nicholls to be honored at football game

THIBODAUX – Lafourche Parish President Charlotte Randolph and Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet will join Nicholls State University President Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Laynie Barrilleaux on Saturday, Oct. 23, to pay tribute to members of the Nicholls community who provided services in the aftermath of the gulf oil spill.

Nicholls faculty, staff and students – as well as members of the Barataria/Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP), based at Nicholls – will all receive name recognition during halftime of the Nicholls vs. Central Arkansas football game, which kicks off at 4 p.m.

Post-disaster services performed by the honorees included research; transportation and cleanup of marine life; seafood safety monitoring; and expert recovery guidance. Many honorees remain engaged in long-term efforts to help restore Louisiana’s wetlands.
