THIBODAUX – Dr. Steven Welsh, former head of the Department of Psychology and Counselor Education and professor of psychology at Nicholls State University, became acting dean of the Nicholls College of Education effective July 1.
“Dr. Welsh brings more than 10 years of administrative experience to the dean’s table, having served Nicholls since August 1988,” Dr. Laynie Barrilleaux, interim vice president for academic affairs, said. “His experience and knowledge of the campus community are invaluable, especially given the current instability in the higher education environment. We look forward to the leadership Dr. Welsh will provide to all here at Nicholls.”
Welsh earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi.
