Nicholls student athletes’ graduation rates improve
THIBODAUX – Several Nicholls State University athletics teams have either improved upon their previous Graduation Success Rates or exceeded (or met) the current national averages for Division I schools, according to statistics released this week by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Nicholls intramural teams to play on lighted fields
THIBODAUX – The intramural flag football season has begun at Nicholls State University with new, lighted fields, all adjacent to the recreation center construction site on Bowie Road. Approximately 375 students on 25 teams will compete this season.
Nicholls professor helps launch service-learning journal
THIBODAUX – A Nicholls State University faculty member will play a key role in the ongoing development of the University of Louisiana System’s new peer-reviewed Journal of Service-Learning in Higher Education (JSLHE). The journal is a subscription-free, international, online publication dedicated to sharing academic research about service-learning.
Nicholls culinary gala to highlight African influence on south Louisiana cuisine
THIBODAUX – The 15th annual Bite of the Arts, Nicholls State University’s premier fundraising event for the John Folse Culinary Institute, is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, in the Bollinger Memorial Student Union. This year’s celebration is themed “Kingambo to Gumbo: Celebrating the African Influence on Cajun and Creole Cuisine.”

Nicholls State University’s acting troupe, the Nicholls Players, offered four public performances of “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” as part of Homecoming Week 2011.

Sinfonia Singers to perform sea shanties at Nicholls
THIBODAUX – The Sinfonia Singers, Nicholls State University’s male chorus, will perform a free concert of seafaring tunes at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, in Talbot Theater on the Nicholls campus.
Former poet laureate to headline Nicholls lecture series
THIBODAUX – The Fletcher Lecture Series at Nicholls State University will celebrate its 28th anniversary Thursday, Nov. 3, with guest lecturer Dr. Darrell Bourque, former poet laureate of the state of Louisiana.
Gin Blossoms to perform free concert at Nicholls
THIBODAUX – Coastal Commerce Bank and Nicholls State University invite the south Louisiana community to Kasasa Rocks Nicholls, a free, family-friendly campus festival and concert featuring the Gin Blossoms on Sunday, Oct. 30.
Nicholls to host Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra
THIBODAUX – The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Carlos Miguel Prieto, will perform in Nicholls State University’s Talbot Theater at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28.
