THIBODAUX – High-achieving girls entering grades 8 through 11 in the 2011-12 school year are invited to apply for admission to the Louisiana Girls Leadership Academy at Nicholls State University.
Themed “Light the Torch and Lead,” the academy is designed to educate major potential leaders in community and public service through responsible leadership. Participants will network with peers and be mentored by experienced women who will help them develop the knowledge and skills necessary for future leadership roles. Specific areas of instruction include communication, situational leadership, relationship building, managing peer pressure and conflict, political competence, campaign strategy and public policy awareness.
Barbara Pierce Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, will deliver the keynote address on Wednesday, June 15.
