The 28th annual Fletcher Lecture Series, held Thursday, Nov. 3, at Nicholls State University, featured guest lecturer Dr. Darrell Bourque.
A former poet laureate of the state of Louisiana, Bourque spoke to a standing-room-only crowd in the Plantation Suite of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union. His lecture was titled “In the Company of Others: A Talk and Reading.” The Fletcher Lecture Series, named after former Nicholls department head Dr. Marie Fletcher and sponsored by the Department of Languages and Literature, brings outstanding scholars and writers to Nicholls each year.
