Author Wes Moore to deliver address at Nicholls

THIBODAUX – The public is invited to Nicholls State University on Tuesday, April 3, to attend a free lecture by author Wes Moore – Rhodes Scholar, U.S. Army veteran, White House fellow and business leader.

Wes Moore

Moore’s book “The Other Wes Moore” was selected for the 2011-12 Nicholls Common Book Initiative, an annual program intended to unite the reading experiences of incoming freshmen. The book chronicles the parallels between the author and another man of the same name, both of whom grew up in the streets of Baltimore but whose paths diverged – one toward a life of success and the other toward a life behind bars.

The author’s honors to date include being named one of Ebony magazine’s Top 30 Leaders Under 30 for 2007 and Crain’s New York Business’ 40 Under 40 Rising Stars in 2009.

Events at Nicholls will begin with a question-and-answer session at 2 p.m. followed by a lecture at 7 p.m., both to be held in Peltier Auditorium. Co-sponsored by Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, the program is part of the 14th annual Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities at Nicholls – held every spring to raise the level of awareness in the arts and humanities. For a detailed schedule of Jubilee events, go to www.nicholls.edu/jubilee/.
