Nicholls Chamber Singers to present “Christmas in New York”

THIBODAUX – The Nicholls State University Chamber Singers will present “Christmas in New York,” a holiday musical concert with a multi-course meal, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 in the Bollinger Memorial Student Union Cotillion Ballroom.

A Nicholls tradition since 1985, the Chamber Singers’ Christmas dinner will center around New York Christmas images, such as the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and ice-skating rink, elaborately decorated department store windows and Broadway shows. Diners will hear iconic New York songs, such as Leonard Bernstein’s “New York, New York,” the theme song from the film “New York, New York” and Broadway tunes. Christmas favorites will include “Silver Bells,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland” and Frank Sinatra’s “Mistletoe and Holly,” among many others.

Dr. Kenneth S. Klaus, professor of music and director of choral activities, will conduct the concert with Michelle Z. Parro as the piano accompanist.

Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children ages 12 and under. The reservation deadline is noon on Friday, Nov. 30. To reserve a seat, call 985-448-4600, stop by 241 Talbot Hall on the Nicholls campus or email dana.aucoin@www.nicholls.edu.
