THIBODAUX – Matthew Jewell, senior business administration major from Luling and 2012-13 president of the Nicholls State University Student Government Association, was elected by fellow SGA presidents from throughout the state on Monday, May 14, to serve on the Board of Regents as a student member.

Jewell said he looks forward to voicing students’ opinions on major issues facing higher education. “It doesn’t matter what my opinion is on financial aid, the budget or student fees,” he said. “My job is to research the issues.”

Dr. Stephen Hulbert, Nicholls president, said Jewell’s election reflects the respect and admiration he has earned among his peers. “I am confident that Mr. Jewell will serve honorably and provide his constituents with the kind of representation they need,” Hulbert said.
