THIBODAUX – Literary enthusiasts are invited to attend the ninth annual Jambalaya Writers’ Conference and Book Fair, one of the many events highlighting this year’s Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities at Nicholls State University.
Scheduled for 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Terrebonne Parish Main Library in Houma, the event will allow writers and readers to engage in a wide-ranging discussion of the literary arts and publishing business led by professional authors, editors, agents and publishers.
Rick Bragg, author of two best-selling memoirs, “All Over But the Shoutin’” and “Ava’s Man,” will serve as keynote speaker. Bragg won the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing while working for The New York Times. He has also taught writing at Harvard University, Boston University and currently, the University of Alabama.
Other speakers include Mary Kay Andrews, Jack Bedell, Darrell Borque, Dianne de Las Casas, Dr. John Doucet, Eileen Dreyer, Heather Graham, Debra Holland, Julie Kane, H.D. Kirkpatrick, Gini Koch, Dr. David Middleton, Alison Peligrin, Caroline Starr Rose, Robert San Souci, Barbara Sillery, Robin Wells and Katie Williams.
Editors Adam Wilson and Kate Depalma as well as agent Cherry Weiner will also participate.
