“Motown” Show Benefits Nicholls’ Mary M. Danos Theater

THIBODAUX — The Nicholls Foundation will present “Legends of Motown,” an evening of popular music hits benefiting Nicholls State University’s Mary M. Danos Theater on Saturday, Aug. 9.

The live theatrical production, featuring Motown music favorites performed by local talent, is produced by Nicholls alums Lorna Gianelloni and Bernadette Dugas.

Gianelloni’s film credits include casting for the Academy Award-nominated feature “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and “A Gathering of Old Men” by Academy Award-winning director Volker Schlondorff. She has also acted on stage and in film, and currently owns Lorna’s Boutique in Houma.

Dugas also works in the film industry, assisting in production, casting and costume design on films like Francis Ford Coppola’s “One From the Heart” and “Fletch Lives” with Chevy Chase. She has also acted and co-hosted her own live talk show. Dugas currently co-owns Aria Relic Cinema and Studio Bluenoir, film production companies in Thibodaux and Los Angeles.

Tickets for the event are $60 per person. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show will start at 7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the renovation and maintenance of the Mary M. Danos Theater.
