THIBODAUX — Newly elected Nicholls State University Student Government Association President Adam Lefort has been selected to serve as a student member of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body for the University of Louisiana System. As a result of his appointment, Lefort, a junior management major from Thibodaux, will automatically be placed on the presidential search committees selecting new leadership for Grambling State University and Northwestern State University.

“I became interested in this position after watching the student board member in action last year during the Nicholls presidential search,” Lefort said. “I look forward to working with the Board of Supervisors and serving as the voice of the students throughout the year, and especially during the Grambling and Northwestern presidential searches.”

In addition to serving as Nicholls SGA president next year, Lefort works part time for the Office of Alumni Affairs and is a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Circle K International and the Student Alumni Association. He was elected to the UL System Board by his fellow student government presidents.

Students representing other UL System institutions were also appointed to boards and leadership roles this week.

“These student leadership positions are important for many reasons,” said UL System President Sandra Woodley. “They give us a direct channel to the students while developing Louisiana’s future leaders. I could very well end up working for one of these students in the near future.”
