Michelle Dufrene

Assistant Professor of Nursing
Michelle Dufrene may be well-liked among nursing students but that doesn’t mean her courses are easy. Students will be quick to point out that Dufrene has very high expectations of her clinical students.
“In the end, they all appreciate me for being there to push and sometimes even shove them in the right direction,” Dufrene says of her former students.
Interacting with students, particularly in the clinical setting, is what Dufrene enjoys most about her job.
“I get the privilege of watching students grow in the nursing role and seeing that spark of accomplishment when the bigger picture of nursing care becomes alive in them,” she says.
Dufrene’s greatest accomplishments include earning her nursing degrees as well as rearing her children. In her spare time, she enjoys playing baseball with her children and surviving Tae Kwon Do classes with them.
