Todd Keller
Assistant Professor of Nursing, Assistant to the Head of the Department of Nursing and Coordinator of Recruiting, Retention, Admissions and Progression
Todd Keller quickly learned one thing after enrolling in college — he wasn’t all that interested in money. Not sure what step to take next since finance was his major, Keller joined the military.
While serving in the U.S. Navy, Keller became a hospital corpsman and realized his love for interacting with people and patients. When he returned home, Keller began working on his bachelor’s degree in nursing at
“Thankfully, even though I didn’t think I was interested in money, nursing salaries have steadily risen since I began my career,” Keller says.
Keller joined the Nicholls faculty in 1999 and has enjoyed the interaction with students since. He was recently chosen as the Xi Zeta, Sigma Theta Tau “Excellence in Nursing Education” award recipient. Keller also takes great pride in every nurse that the college graduates as he plays a small role in the creation of a workforce of new nurses.
“I love watching the students’ minds absorb the information and then struggle to make some sense out of complex concepts,” he says. “It is extremely rewarding to teach students in entry level nursing courses, and then see them as they exit the program.”
In his spare time, Keller works in live theater — acting, directing and performing other technical roles in the staging of a show. He also loves to read.
